I don't use a tennis ball, but the same method. Been using it for over 30 years. Don't need no damn lasers.

That's got to be the cleanest, sharpest garage I've ever seen....Do you hire somebody to keep it that clean? Oh, sweet car btw. (usually not a vette fan, but that looks real nice)

I use fishing line and a plastic wiffle golf ball, barely noticeable.

Wheel chocks. Place your vehicle exactly where you want it and place the chocks firmly against the front tires. This is what I do.

You guys have some cool ideas lol. I just use my reverse cam. My small garage have a uneven floor spot and the garage door goes down outside that uneven spot. If i can see that uneven spot in the camera means im good.

I do the same thing. I put one of the lines from the backup camera on the expansion crack between the garage floor and the driveway. Works and only cost thirty thousand dollars.

We back in and hit the piece of rubber where the bumper hits. Works every time.

But that ball and string for $1.50 only works if you park the same vehicle in the same place, and only if it is parked straight. If its crooked (we have 2 young drivers), one corner will be back further. Clearly we should all walk back and check the back of our vehicle every time. That saves the $1.50 and will work regardless of which vehicle or how straight it is. Enough said!

Seriously though, I was just sharing a method to keep the door from coming down on a car, regardless of which car is in the garage or how straight it is. Searching online showed numerous people trying unsuccessfully to get sensors that could accomlish it.

This is like a buid thread where people can't see any reason why a person would get anything other than what they chose.

If you think about it, virtually all safety features are unnecessary if we just have a little foresight and pay attention. When I was a kid, I drove my go-cart for a year without fixing the brakes. I could slide it sideways to stop any time I wanted (I just had to plan ahead). It wasn't until my sister asked to ride it that I fixed the brakes.

A front-facing camera might save you some time tbh
