Alls you need is the standard MPVI2 and 4 universal credits! no need for the pro features and those can be added on later if needed. Lots of work has been done with the engine tuning side via JustDSM (hes on a hiatus right now dealing with personal things in his life), and a good chunk of work has been done by myself on the auto trans tuning side of things.

Thanks, that's what it looked like....

Placed my order, super excited to start tuning...
This was the only thing missing from these trucks...
Think I'm going order headers, Y pipe and do my exhaust now that I can tune it...

I may hit you guys up for some tips as I dig into it........
I not familiar with trans tuning, I should be able to figure out the engine Tuning..
Skimming through the thread the software seams similar to the other car brands.

    Speaking of the pro features...

So, tonight I finally got around to wiring in the prolink to my AEM Wideband failsafe gauge. AEM# 30-4900. This gauge has two analog outputs. One for boost and one for AFR. I'm starting with the vac/boost reading. Everything is wired up and I'm seeing voltages in VCM scanner. Now I need to define them. None of the "canned" options for boost gauges in scanner are giving me good numbers for vac/Boost. Ok, fine. I'll go user defined then. Trouble is, I'm a bit lost there.

Here's the chart AEM provides on the Boost output signal.

Anyone else set up a user defined vac/boost reading in Scanner? @JustDSM @HPTuners ?

I have been planning to, but I'm waiting for :boink: @HPTuners to release the expander hub. I already have both channels dedicated to left and right bank widebands. Need two more channels for boost and fuel pressure.

How I did it for the wideband, should be similar for other inputs:

    Add channel
    Mpvi2
Pro link and choose which input is wired to your gauge and double click

Then right click on the newly created input and select Transform.

Select the type of sensor you have in the list but DO NOT hit OK, press the fx button on top which makes it user defined.

There should be a calculation that you may have to tweak afterwards to get the scanner to match up perfectly with your gauge.
    Hit OK

That's where I'm at. I've tried all the AEM options. None are reading correctly. One is sort of close. I guess I could start with that one and play with it. But, I'm not sure what exactly to change in the formula. And, more importantly, why.

Did you hit the fx button and get the user defined stuff? It was the only way I got mine working after lots of online searching for how to set up.

ALSO, I had to resych interface (under the help tab) on the VCM scanner, after I upgraded to PRO. That one stumped me for a while

Yes. I’ve chosen several different formulas in attempts to get decent numbers. The pro stuff is all working. I get voltages. They’re moving around while scanning. That’s not the issue. I just need the correct numbers to plug into the formula when transforming.

Gotcha. I found info on YouTube and my wideband manual and tweaked the formula values slightly because the scanner didn't match up with my gauge initially. When the user defined formula showed up for me it was semi close already though.

Staring at this... what if. What if I set it up as a map sensor instead of a boost gauge. The chart I posted earlier kind of points to this.
    Hmmm

Not sure what range values a map sensor would have. Probably worth a try though.

I see there is a PLX Vacuum/boost option in the list and I believe most of these sensors work on a 0-5v signal so that might be worth a try too if you haven't already

That map table looks like a proper range for a boost gauge

Indeed. Very similar numbers. I’ll use this as a starting point.

Anyone else having this go on? I’ve tried 3 different cables in every USB port on my computer. The tone on the computer sounds when I plug in and the MPVI2 pwr light comes on but I can’t connect or re-sync. @HPTuners any quick fixes?

I’ve downloaded the latest beta already. It was working fine, I unhooked, did a little work under the hood and haven’t been able to get it back.

Does it show up in device manger?

Right click the windows icon bottom left > device manager

Under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" with the MPVI2 plugged in do you see "USB Serial Converter" ?
