It is a limitation of the OEM ECU not having flex fuel capabilities from the factory. If the vehicle is flex fuel ready, then it can be used. By the way, it is only 299 for the mpvi2 plus 4 credits @ 50 each so 499 for engine and trans tuning capabilities isn't bad IMO. If I could do E85 I'd be trying this out. I may try it out just to tinker...

Maybe the pro feature set isn’t really necessary, I just thought it would be nice to be able to log my widebands and fuel pressure sensor.

Sub’d, I wanna see some numbers.

Would also be nice if I could use it on my 3UZ-FE

While it may not be flex fuel capable you can run E85 by using appropriately sized injectors, and then using the injector scaling function to bring the trims back to normal. In my prior EVO/Subaru days this was how we did it. It was common to run 1000cc/min injectors on ~400-430whp cars with injectors scaled back to near stock numbers. You can then calibrate the open loop fuel and ignition tables to meet the needs of your engine package.

If you ever need to run pump fuel due to E85 availability or whatever, you can simply convert back to a calibration that is set-up for pump fuel. While not as convenient as flex-fuel capable, with a little work on the laptop you can effectively do it manually should that be an option.

I'm extremely excited this came out.

To those of you with tuning experience (I have none)

If starting with a TRD flash and HP Tuners, how complicated will it be to get the ECU to run with 640cc instead of the the 455c injectors?

    Depends completely on the software.

Much like Torspd said, it depends on the software. But the little experience I have with HPtuners fiddling on friends vehicles I can confidently say it'll be a simple change getting the injectors scaled back. Since we're virtually breaking new ground with this kind of access to our ECU it's going to take a little fiddling to fine tune your injectors unless you have the response data (latency) on your injectors. Each make and model of injector has a different latency. There is a table (2D) in the ECU to define that opening delay based typically on voltage.

You typically can make a gross adjustment with the injector scaling function, getting the trims dialed in 90% of the way which will allow you get out and drive/further tune. Simply doing this will get you back on the road however, you'll generally notice that your trims wander a bit and this is a result of the factory injectors having a different response curve compared to the new injectors. Tweaking or simply inputting the mfg. supplied data in VCM Editor software will complete tune the larger injectors.

Hope that helps somewhat. I've the HPTuners setup ordered and will be happy to help anyone in the DFW area with dialing in their trucks.

Appreciate the info. I’m planning to get rid of the UCON and go back to the TRD flash. I’d rather keep the larger injectors. Sounds like from what you’re saying that I can at least get it running and then tune it further from there.

I’ll be looking forward to hear your thoughts once you get yours and have a chance to try it out.

This is all I have for the injectors I'm running. Maybe I can find the actual tables if I dig some more.

Oh man. I really hope we can get someone with an NA setup on a dyno soon, with this tuner, to see what kind of gains can be made!:D:D

Your wish will be granted my friend.

I have a 2015 6spd N/A with a custom intake using a Volant scoop and stock airbox and a URD Spec-U Exhaust. Which will be tuned using HPTuners. Don't expect anything in immediate future, I promise you it's coming!

This is extremely helpful and has a lot of info. Depending on the VCM Editor software and the logic Toyota used, a good bit of the data provided in this sheet may very well be used in properly scaling these injectors for use with our ECU. A lot of the data here is used in GM applications which is where my experience with HPTuners comes from (admittedly it's not much at this point).

Once my stuff comes in, I'll be sure to post up loads of screenshots and we'll be able to see what we need to properly scale injectors on this application.

I'm definitely interested in this. I need a TRD ecu though.
