Thought I'd share a little something with you guys who like the MAF g/sec readings.

Had some free time today and did a little testing/baseline on my 5.0.

220 miles on the ODO with whatever gas (87?) that the dealer filled it up with. 100% Stock tune:

Run 1, Right off the street and out of stop-n-go traffic:
    IMG_7012.jpg

2nd pull overlayed (Picked up a few, but I hate the graph layout)
    3355EF2B-7CCE-4516-A659-A4E7E6D3CCE8.jpg

    Of course I datalogged :)

    Dyno.jpg

    The interesting thing.. 362.6 g/sec * 1.18 = 427.867hp

The car should be ~460hp at the flywheel.

We're seeing right between 13-15% drivetrain loss if the engine is making the advertised 460hp.

Just a datapoint and something to ponder.

    Hey @JustDSM

I found another small annoyance on the 2011 PCM swap..

The cruise control icon does not light up on the instrument cluster anymore, however, it still works. You just don't know if it is engaged on or not until you select the lever to engage cruise.

    Good to know!

Thank you for updating us with your findings. It would have been bliss if only.. My '09 ECU serves a single function and it works great come inspection time!

If anyone with ECU part number 89661-04C70 needs a spare, I have one, $50 and I'll cover the postage back to the USA. It has the wrong pin layout for the Hilux.

I just wanted to pop in to the thread and give nd4spdbh and JustDSM some major credit and tell all those on the fence about the HP Tuners to get one now! I did the cam gear and HP Tuner and its like a whole new truck, well worth the cost.

    Again thank you

How was the install on the cam gears? (I still have a set sitting in my toolbox waiting to go in!)

Pretty straightforward, dropped a handful of fasteners down to my skid plates and fought with the exhaust recycling tubes before I played it smart and loosened all the brackets lol

haha good to know. Ill get to it eventually... but with how the truck has been running on my current JustDSM engine tune / my trans tune and other changes its hard for me to want to spend time messing with something so great!

.... that and fun things like snow skiing take precedence, also freaking @snowsk8air2 taking a weekend out of my march....

For those who have done cam gears, are you letting your current tune up accommodate (advance up) in areas that it can the timing, or doing logging and changing the base tune?

    Gents,

I tried the search function on this thread, but didn't get any results on any combination of "Dyno, MPVI2, SoCal, Southern California" . Any recommended tuners (with dyno) in SoCal? I have the MPVI2 and credits, but need someone local familiar with tuning the Magnuson with an already loaded Bully Dog tune.

If you leave the tune as is and then let the computer do it's advancing as needed, you are leaving as much as 3-4.5 PSI off the board if you are boosted. After datalogging and having Justin modify my tune, I went from hitting 11.5PSI regularly to hitting 15.7 PSI regularly my new peak is 16 PSI over the old 12 PSI.

It's in your better interest to log and re-adjust the tune.

So are you saying the cam gears bumped your boost up 4 lbs with @JustDSM tune?!

Yes sir, that's exactly what I am saying.

I'm no math major but 11.5 to 15.7 regular boost change is somewhere around 4PSI, either way, it is a MAJOR bump in boost. :D

I know boost is relative and there are many variables at play like temperature, barometric pressure, intake/exhaust set up, etc... And I’m not sure how much timing has been adjusted. But 4 lbs of boost on our setups is usually around 40 rwhp.

Assuming the 1 psi equals 10 horsepower equation, yes, supposedly we make more power per PSI on these blowers though. To be on the safe side though I'm going to say about 40 to be conservative though.
