There’s a couple ways you can go:

Load your own tunes or mine, with your own cable/laptop: $550 this includes the HPTuners MPVI2, (4) Credits, my tune/updates/support.

Send me your ECU for a pre-loaded tune: $275 return shipping included.

I can supply you a turn-key ECU ready to drop in, with tune pre-installed. ~$450

So to load your tunes, I would need the MPVI2. What are the credits for? Do you sell the HPTuner so it includes your support? Sorry, for all the questions. My truck is my dd, so I don't think sending you my ecu is feasible.

If you want to "load his tune" YES. you need to buy the MPVI2

Credits are a one time purchase per vehicle. The software licenses the vehicle so you can tune it unlimited times. tune = flash the ECU/VCM/ whatever you want to call it.

What’s up with torque? I had my eye on it. Did it not work well for you?

Of course, but the real magic is in the Open Loop fueling which tends to make our trucks run pig rich when we are supercharged.

Great app. Works just fine. I use OBD LINK MX as my bluetooth dongle. I was hoping this had 3rd party support so I could use the HPTuners dongle in place of my OBD Link MX that way I only had one dongle and if I wanted to tune or change tunes, I could hook up the USB-C cable and do so. Then remove the cable and back to realtime monitoring, trouble code reading/ resetting/ lookup etc.

FYI - Amazon has a special right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GGG978H ($489.95 with 4 Universal Credits)

What about running OBD on BT? that’s how I use it currently.

What are you trying to accomplish? If you're looking to change the AFR at idle or elsewhere in closed loop from the target 14.6:1, it's not possible. If you're having trouble obtaining that AFR and fighting trims, there's work that can be done.

I’m just looking at tuning options. I can’t say for sure yet as I only have an ultra gauge installed. But it looks like the ecu is still targeting 14.6 in the low boost area’s before open loop.

Is it possible to target 14 afr at zero boost/vacuum then taper down as boost increases?

How do you tune for part throttle boost?

Me too. But are you using the MPVI2 as the Bluetooth dongle or another dongle?

Very possible. I was one of the first trucks @JustDSM tuned when he was experimenting with the taper air fuel ratio and it works just swell now I must say.

I am definitely gonna use hptuners since I already have it and have @JustDSM tune it. I guess I just can’t rap my head around tuning with no fuel map. But that’s what @JustDSM is for.

What he does is mostly beyond my pay grade. I leave the software to him and the hardware part to me. Lol. Some things are just better that way.

Would having a repository of all the .cuw files be useful?

    It wouldn't hurt!

But as far as HPTuners is concerned, they use a proprietary encrypted file that is specific to their VCM Software. You can't load/edit the .CUW files with this software unfortunately. But those with Techstream and appropriate cables may find some use for the stock .CUW files.
