i can help with this part remotely, but I do swing through Austin every now and then. You can send me your tune and I can set it up for this Offroad removal. Do you need help with hardware removal as well? You will need to purchase the tuner and credits or at least credits if you can find someone local with a tuner.

I can remove the parts myself that is no issue just looking for someone to do the tune for me for that offroad removal and to adjust for 4.56 gears and 285/75/16 tires eliminate rev hang... I can purchase the tuner and tokens im guessing i will need to purchase before i can send my tune to you correct?

I've responded to your DM.. Happy to help and have a tuner in San Antonio that can flash our calibrations.

    Best,

Yes, you will need the tuner and credits then send me your file. I can adjust it for you then send it back to reflash to your ECU. Once you get the four credits and tuner then nothing else is required or needed. No dice on speedo adjustments or rev hang on my end. The speedo is controlled outside of HPT parameters. I use a piggyback interrupt to correct my speedo.

John @Boltripper with the services of @JustDSM may be able to help with rev hang, but not sure if Justin did much with this part, @nd4spdbh probably has more insight on the tranny piece perhaps.

I have run both and i would go back to HP tuners every time. Less issues, simpler since it uses the stock ECU, and more tunability. Swapped to HP and havent looked back. I also did a comparison of the two in the Magnuson SC tips/tricks thread a while back. Performance was roughly the same between them based on the data logs, but imo HP feels a little peppier. Just my seat of the pants feel though

    Hi!

My name is Neil, I live in Nevada and I have a 2015 TRD Tacoma. I have been lurking on here for as long as I have had the truck, but this is my first post/question. I have been using HPTuners on the Taco and my Suburban starting in 2019 so I am very familiar with the program.

Anyway, I just bought the Magnison Supercharer for my truck and I am having an issue with the Bully Dog tuner that it came with; its basically stuck in an update loop. Like I said, I already have my ECU unlocked from HPTuners for the NA setup; is there anyway to get the base tune file for the supercharger to reflash my ECU with? I know this has been probably been asked a million times already; but there are 382 pages to go through and this is all that is stoping me from finishing this project.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Pretty sure Justin can reflash your ECU with TRD Tune and get you going. You just need to mail him your ECU. Let me look for the link to his new handler.

You're going to need a replacement ECU that does not have the TSB update and 4 more credits.

Well that is good to know, and one hell of a "gotcha" moment. So my truck is dead in the water, great... Guess I'm driving the Suburban for a while.

Is there a sticky or a walkthrough on how to fix this problem? I did a quick look and prices for a unit are from $60-$600, yikes!

"Pretty sure Justin can reflash your ECU with TRD Tune and get you going. You just need to mail him your ECU. Let me look for the link to his new handler." --I am guessing this isn't an option either? I noticed you sell tunes, but it sounds like the ECU would have to "stock" and still have the Call ID?

I had a feeling this was the problem. I veguly remember reading about this back in 2019 when I unlocked the ECU. But that was like...3, 7, maybe 12 years ago at this point, I don't know; time is hard these days.

Anyway, thanks for the info and pointing me in the right direction.

Has anyone had the following errors with VSM Scanner Version 4.10.7?

"Unable to open file. Incorrect file header."

"Unable to open file. Invalid file."

It seems random. One file will be fine and the next has an error. The issue started in the middle of December. I probably need to open a ticket with HPTuners, but I may be missing something simple. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
