I don't think the evap delete will bother anything, you only have the ability to disable the MIL from what I've seen. The auto can be pretty damn sporty with a flash but unless you've got it built up I wouldn't expect it to last forever.. There are some gains to be had as NA, more so headers and cam gears.

I just want to get one season out the tranny to get the truck dialed. Not looking for years of use. Would be happy with 500 dirt miles and 1500 street, motor and tranny only have 32k on them. I know the engine should be solid forever if it's anything like my old 3.4 powered race truck, thing lived on the rev limiter and didn't care.

I have hooked @snowsk8air2 up with a "manual" trans tune for the auto trans where it wont downshift unless you essentially come to a stop, and you use the gear selector to limit the top most gear you want to be in (as well as upshifts that are much further into the output RPMS vs stock). It seems to work quite well on his truck. (I do this for free btw as its one off fun stuff)

Shift points are based on the output rpms of the transmission (and throttle pedal input), while you have some pretty low gearing, the 37s will make up the difference and things should still be somewhat proper, speed is calculated at the wheel (at least on the 2nd gen tacos) so speedo will actually read lower due to bigger tire.

Keep the trans cool and with fresh fluid and you shouldnt have a problem for lots of use. I BELIEVE, the 1st gen tundra 5spd auto came with a thermostat on the trans cooler lines (very similar to the 3rd gen taco) so you might look into bypassing that - honestly not sure why toyota decided to remove the thermostat on the 2nd gen taco auto trans as it would of helped with getting the trans to temp quicker.

God i love data! Thats some awesome info there and around what I expected but very pleased to see those torque gains. For the auto have you figured out the optimum torque tables to get things to still shift proper without having some torque management kick in?

Also +1 to your Tunes, Been running your stuff well since the beginning of time and then you started integrating my trans tunes which is an honor! haha.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
That is what I am holding my breath for as well. I swear I get torque management interference but don’t have anybody to ride and watch tech stream to tell.

JustDSM and I were spit balling on some things just before OTT became a thing. I have made a few translation tables that keep track of necessary data while driving and spent some time trying to get both optimum tables to 1. properly work together to get rid of torque management, 2. make it so that shifting is proper. Some of you might remember the v12-v13(and maybe v14) era of transmission tunes and the 3rd / 4th gear hang. Well it wasnt the trans tune it was a coincidental change in optimum torque tables. Hard to have your cake and eat it too!

Most have gone back to stock torque tables to get the trans to shift like normal (myself included) but man, if you know what to feel for you can feel the truck pulling timing certain times when it shouldnt.

    Thanks!! I do too!

I have a work-around for addressing torque management while not introducing the shifting issues the torque table modifications I had used early on. It's enabled the truck to shift as intended while being able to run the ignition timing you want. I unfortunately can't get into the details, as this "technology" is a product of Overland Tailor Tuning R&D.

*If you are a past client of mine, and exhibit a shift hang (holds 4th to a higher than normal RPM, then suddenly shifts to 5th) please send me an email with your last tune file along with your MPVI2 serial number. I'll be happy to edit your tune file to get your shifting back to normal. No charge.*

I do very, very much appreciate all your support and help over the years. You have done an amazing job with developing a great 2nd Gen transmission tune. Even your shift helpers are a blessing for folks. I used them as inspiration to develop similar spreadsheets for our Tundra and 3rd Gen Tacoma tunes.

I probably asked this before, but was there ever a fix for the 4th to 5th flair under light throttle? I have just changed my driving habits to deal with it but it would nice to get it resolved.

Otherwise it shifts nice and crisp, actually extra crispy but that's ok.. If you're pussyfooting when it goes for 4-5 it will pretty much flair every time before it locks it in.

Increasing the torque a bit in the Optimum Trans Torque table at the appropriate RPM/Throttle angle will do it.

JustDSM. Always an amazing dude! Glad you were able to figure it out, I know you were spending quite a bit of time on it.

I shall shoot you an email shortly with my latest tune, any email in particular or just the main OTT email?
