htc incredible black screen problem??

over the past week a few times...my incredible has gone to a black screen/freeze up while im browsing the internet or sending a text message. the only way to correct it is turning the phone off and back on. anyone else have that problem before? the girl at verizon told me i could do a factory reset and that should takwe care of it...but after a factory reset....not too sure about how to set my phone back up.

 

and just to add.......i dont know shit about rooting.

 

I'd do the reset. Your contacts and apps should be backed up to your gmail account. I had a wierd issue with my EVO and a reset solved it easy. I had to use some app to backup my text messages though.
