    hello everyone!
Recently my truck started humming/whining in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears when accelerating, it's pretty loud from inside the truck. loud enough that I don't hear my exhaust much(aftermarket).
It kinda of sounds like power steering, but it's not when i'm turning, it's always, I did check my power steering fluid and it was low so i topped it up.
oil level is good, I'm thinking transmission fluid? how do i check if that's it? I want to change the tranny fluid anyways, so i'll probably do that when I can, but what could be some other culprits?
    Mt 90 in the tranny?
    Thanks

ive been lurking around here for a while now as i plan on buying an 09 DC TRD OR in june....

with that being said... it sounds exactly like a problem i had with my WRX. I had a whine coming from under the hood, occurred all the time regardless of steering. mine got louder as rpms increased. turned out to be a busted idler pulley bearing on my AC belt. stick a screwdriver on the pulleys one by one and put the handle of the screw driver to yer ear to diagnose the source. hope this helps!

chris, I just changed to Mobil 1 two weeks ago. put in 5.4Litres. I checked and it's sitting perfectly full.
From asking around, most people are saying power steering pump, and it does sound like power steering, I guess a new pump is in order

I have the EXACT same issue, the sound gets louder when rpms increase and quieter as they decrease. The dealership tells me its my air intake, which is total BS, because I never noticed the noise till I had about 5k miles on the truck. Had it been the Intake it would have been there since day 1.

I dont think its the tranny because it makes the noise in neutral also.

If you figure it out, PLEASE post it!

well, I'll be doing the tranny fluid asap regardless, but I believe it's power steering, it's that sort of wine

It could be the power steering. I just read that it happens when accelerating in gear, and most gear associated noise is from the tranny oil level being low.
