@jpneely since you’re right around the corner, make sure you let me know if you need anything before/during/after the storm. I’ll PM you my number and address. If there are no comms and you need anything, just make your way over.

Very nice, I only see one issue, cooling for the gens as they are air cooled. After Irma, I had mine in the back of my truck, under a carport, with all 3 windows open, and worked fine when the wind was 50mph-60mph. After the wind calmed down, the gens got hot and the gas tanks pressurized, so they wouldn't siphon gas, and shut down. Placed them on the ground chained to a trailer, and they ran fine for another day and a half, then the power came back on. Only used 8.5 gals for 2.5 days around the clock, running a window ac unit, well pump, and the rest of the house that was 120v. I would test it out in the heat of the day.

Added: I know with the tailgate and topper closed trying to secure them, and the exhaust not piped out to the outside, this all contributed to the heat under the topper. With your setup I'd add exhaust extensions going through the vents, yes they're made, and I would add fans on the intake vents of both, might cool them enough to keep it all closed up in the rain and all.

Hmmmm... I’ve not had an issue with the two gennys overheating, even inside my homemade enclosure (with the doors wide open.)

I do a monthly 10 minute run and a yearly long term run test between 4-7 days.

My last long test was early summer, six straight days at different/fluctuating/ alternating load levels using a window AC, two large fridge/freezer units, 1100 watt microwave, coffee maker and select outlets running small electronics.

I used 17 gallons of stabilized, premium, ethanol free fuel, in eco mode.

I should move my yearly long term runtime test to mid-summer to stress the system.

They're about as hard headed as they come, a bunch of old time commercial fisherman who've "seen it all". I have a couple friends down there, I can't attest to 200 people, but I know quite a few have stayed to ride it out.

Nuts. I hate to write this but I have seen some people say that the nhc is propping this up this storm because they don't know where it's going. They think only sustained 90 to 100 with some higher gust around the center. I hope they are right but if they are wrong...

I was thinking of using your setup with the doors closed for security, thus the fans. In 92 with Andrew, people in Homestead had to guard their gen sets armed, or they sprouted legs. And these little 50# units would be gone quickly.
One thing I like about these gen sets is, the carbs are the easiest I've ever cleaned after leaving gas in there too long. After a youtube video, 1 can of carb cleaner, I cleaned mine and they started right up and ran great.

Comparing this to the satellite view of it gives it real scale. Crazy how much of the storm is north of the eye.

A little something every chance we get.
I wish everyone the best, and if you haven't left the expect area of impact, you probably should. Harvey decided to go back to the coast ONE county South of us last year, and we are very grateful. You would not believe what an impact a slow storm will have. We got 11" in one day, we are not flood prone, but 40 miles away..... Take good care.

This is what I mean, the actual cloud image if the storm overplayed on the projected path. Gonna be wet

Replacing everything worn, broken, and rusted.
5 am update. Looking huge. TS warmings extended to inland NC counties as well. Downgraded to a Cat 2 but will still bring an avalanche of water.
