In my experience it's very dependent on which model year you get and how you treat it. For the most part the NA vehicles are super reliable. There was a run of a few years of the FB25 engine that had bad oil consumption due to a flaw with the oil control rings. They fixed that I think 2015ish but it took a class action lawsuit. Their early iterations of the CVT had some problems but they extended out their powertrain warranty for pretty much all affected to 10 years, 100k miles which was cool.

Turbo models tend to be driven hard and modified, so you'll hear the horror stories more so than the ones that take care of them. The biggest thing is the turbo. They will fail eventually and if you wait until they fail catastrophically you can be sure the bearing material and anything that broke in the turbo and ran through the engine will take it out shortly thereafter. You hear the turbo start to make funny noises, replace it....and then you're good!

Oh and don't give it gas in 6th gear on the highway putzing at 2500rpms. You'll get a lot of boost and a lot of detonation and crack your ringlands.

Depends on which ones you're looking at. I bought my first Subaru in 1999. Still have her.

I also had a 1993 Impreza L Wagon. When I sold that car, there was 290,000 miles on the clock. That car is still on the road.

All in all, Subaru makes a great product. Most people who own a Subaru, will always own a Subaru. It's just the way it is.

I have mixed feelings with Subaru but remain in their camp.

My wife’s 2012 Subaru Impreza had to have the front differential replaced at 65,000. It was just outside the warranty and Subaru covered it. At 110,000 the transmission went, again outside warranty but Subaru covered it. Now she she need two of the OEM wheels replaced because they are warped.

We have worked with two different dealers in two different states and their customer service is top notch. I’m glad Subaru covered us but imho this is a lot of major repairs for not a lot of miles, but it could be bad luck. All that said we will likely buy another because they treated us well.

It looks like the 9006 connector adapter is already built into the light kit cables. Am I correct the the two red/black cables are not used?

Your factory bulb is H11, so the plug is H11. The input for the Harness is 9006...they look similar but you need the Adapter to go from H11 to 9006. From there the harness plugs and ballast plugs are both 9006 so those do not need adapters.

H11 to 9006 should have been included with the HID kit.

Thanks. I think I have the adapter. There are two of them connected to the bulb harness with a grommet. It is my understanding that I only need to use one. Connect that one to the OEM harness and not use the other. Correct

One more question. The DD harness has a lead labeled “signal”. What does that plug into? Does it plug into OEM cable I took off the light or the adapter red/ black cable that is on the grommet. Sorry I am so dumb. I see the OEM on the light bulb so do I plug that into the signal lead ofrom harness

"BINGO".....i think i got it now.......was confused thinking the 9006/H11 adapter was something else but it looks like it is the red/black cable in the grommet that everyone is calling the "adapter"........what i have done is connect the adapter cable to the relay harness "signal" cable....then connected the OEM cable to the other end of the adapter cable......then the ballast end of relay to the ballast itself....Boy, did I learn something.......did this on my BMW motorcycle and did not have any problem......now to get everything installed and cleaned up with tie wraps

i want to thank everyone who chimed in to help me without your help and guidance i would probably be stuck.........BTW, i did talk to the light manufacturer.....he gave me a different connection process but he did not realize i had a separate relay harness

will post pictures when complete......going to salt lake for few days so probably next week..again, thanks everyone :hattip:

Well, i am back from Salt Lake City after supporting my brother in law while his wife went thru surgery....So today, I decided to install my lights.....After reading all the information and after asking many questions, i broke out the lights and the DD harness.....I first ran flex cable over the harness legs and taped with electrical tape.....

I then took out the windshield washer bottle....That was an eye the most difficult part......... It was very difficult getting to the cable connector because it was a tight fit....finally I got it out....but the bottom of the bottle has a pointed plug that goes into a hole that has a grommet in the hole...It took me some time to get it to pop loose....once out, I took out the pax side bulb and put new one in.....then I mounted the ballast into the grounding screw hole on the side of the panel and 3MM’d the black box to the left side of the ballast....plugged in the ballast cable and ran the relay leg over the top of the fan under the fan cover and secured it with four zip ties after drilling holes in fan flange on each side of the cover....

Now I took out the drivers light and put in the new one.....mounted the ballast in the grounding hole and 3MM’d the black box below and to the right on the panel...connected the light.....On purpose, I did not connect the signal cable to the OEM cable yet.....

I then mounted the relay in the grounding hole next to the battery and connected the battery positive cable to the battery.......Then connected the negative cable to the same grounding hole as the relay......I double checked all connections and made sure they were tight.....Cleaned up as much as I could....

I now finally connected the signal cable to the OEM 9006 cable......It was now time to see if I did everything right......

Since I had cleaned up the passenger side cables, put the bottle back and closed up the fan cover, I went to the inside and made sure all lights were off......I pressed the brake and pushed the start button....and turned on the lights......NOTHING....nada!!! My heart jumped out of my chest and could not believe I was going to have to tear it all apart......Well I checked the 9006 cable and saw it was little loose....So I change it out....Tried again....NADA......

I could not figure it out, but as I was looking at the bulbs I took out, they were different!!!! Then I looked at the drivers side and realized I took out the wrong bulb!!!! Hoping I had not fried my truck, I disconnected the 9006 cable and took out the new bulb and replaced it with the old OEM one and hooked back up the OEM cable.....I noticed that there was no red wire on the OEM cable i just connected.....mmmm.......that was my BIG CLUE

So I moved over a bit and took out the OEM bulb that had the red/white cable.....put in the new bulb and connected the 9006 cable.....Now I was praying everything would work.......how dumb was it to take out the wrong bulb? Got inside and started the truck.....Turned the light to auto....nothing which was what I expected......now turned on lights......IT WORKED!! I had lights!!!!.....Turned off after a few minutes and re-started...Again good lights......

I guess the moral to this story is that you really need to pay attention to what you are doing....I must have been so focused on the washer bottle, I just thought I was taking out the correct bulb.....should have noticed it did not have the red wire.....Oh well....I was lucky nothing happened. But I am delighted with the project and it looks like is will work out just fine....

I want thank everyone who took their time to answer my dumb questions.....but I finally got it....and my light look great.....will take some pictures and post them later tonight......cant wait to test drive tonight.....thanks again to everyone..
