if you have read all 410 post, you should have enough info to make a fairly good decision

And I hope you realize the sheer ridiculousness of this request. Hence why I am looking for a synopsis....

Partly because skimming through a 21 page thread is tedious at best. Partly because I'm lazy. I love to gather information, but if a post and a couple follow ups can save time that reading through 21 pages would cost, I'm all for it.

I read the initial page for the overview, and I've read some other threads on here denouncing aftermarket HID's and (moreso) LED's in the OEM Halogen projectors, so I was wondering how they perform. Do they overheat? Does it cause any issues with the OEM light housing? I haven't seen any "bad aspects" to them, and that worries me. How can they be so inexpensive and work well? What's the longest duration anyone has had these installed for without issue? You know, standard quality feedback questions before I spend my money.

now you getting some where......you asked specific questions......i will give you my experience:
    1. I have not had any overheating issues.....they feel cool but warm...not scalding hot....
    2. There were some reporting that putting HIDs in the halogen housing is not the “best” action, but it does not hurt the performance....maybe a little less throw
    3. if something is good, then will have few issues....the fact that so many people have them installed should say something about the non-issues...the bulbs can be replaced for about $20 each....that in itself is cheap......the wiring harness in $30 or so...that in some peoples mind is cheap....but they work.
    4. i have seen some that have had them for over a year with no problems
    5. this kit has been compared to many other kits......all seam to have fairly good reviews....but it is all in the eye of the beholder....i find this kit to be good and only had one issue. bad bulb from the start....was replaced after I showed them i had destroyed it......very good customer service with me and quick in repsonding

hope this helps....for $99 buck, i dont think you could go wrong and will enjoy a better lighting option than the OEM lights

Thank you for the informative follow up. I appreciate your time. Going to look into the options a bit more, and see what I go with. The XenonDepot kit that uses the phillips bulbs is intriguing, esp since they're having a sale. Decisions decisions.

The $500 deductible I paid after hitting a deer made it easier to open my wallet for improved lighting. I was overdriving my headlights at 60 in stock configuration.

Just got done with reading all 21 pages of the thread and thanks guys for all the information!

Figured I mine as well get the ball bulbs, but I just wanted to make sure I get the right kit. From my understanding this kit in the link has the ball bulbs in it already, so all I need to do is put 4300 in the comments, correct?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/HYLUX-A208...ON-HID-Conversion-Kit/272969012153?rmvSB=true

The only other thing I need is this DD Relay harness right?

    https://www.diodedynamics.com/heavy-duty-hid-relay-harness.html

Just got my SR in December and have been wanting HIDs on it for awhile now and figured this is the most effective mod I can make for it. For someone with little experience wrenching, I am just going off the pictures on this thread and youtube videos is there any other materials that I need to make it as clean/easy as possible? Also about how long does it take? I am going to take my time with it, I'm just curious. Thank you!

    Sweet, appreciate it!

As much as I hate Frost leaving, can't blame the man considering his Alma Matter and of course the money lol. I appreciate how much he has done for our program and getting people to finally know who UCF is: even if its as the loonies in Orlando who think their national champs .

I saw the picture with removing the plastic trim and placing underneath but aren't these the mounting holes circled in white?

Also is there a picture in this thread that shows what I bolded, you lost me there lol.

I think I know what your saying now. With that.... that leaves one headlight without a signal connection?

Look right to you. Bulb is missing a connection as well as the truck wireing which you said earlier is okay.

yeah i remember there was an unused connector when i did my install. i was confused, so i tested it, everything worked, and i wrapped the connector in electrical tape to keep it dry, and done.

by the way i installed my kit probably 18 months ago and it's been perfect since that day. zero issues and great light all the time. just some follow up..

Does the truck need to be on for the HIDs to work? I have everything hooked up but when I turn on my headlights just my running lights turn on.

I see what your saying. I'm going to head out there in a bit and let you know how it goes.
