So after almost 4 years, I think my relay might have died? No power at all going to the ballasts I believe. They don't attempt to turn on. Anyone ever have this issue and just replace the relay?

I already replaced both relays on my HD relay harness, looks like one is starting to go yet again (have spares, just have to find them)

It turned out that it was a bad connection with the relay in the harness. @Vbpiper was gracious enough to meet up and help me troubleshoot it; we switched to a new ballast and it was fine. I popped out the relay and it was pretty dirty and had some corrosion, wiped it off, seated it back in and it fired up nicely.

I went home bought some dielectric grease like he suggested and coated the prongs after scrubbing them off with a metal brush. So far they're working just fine.

    Thanks again @Vbpiper!

No issues with my setup but I bought a second for the parents and the Diode Dynamics relay started struggling. Diode Dynamics doesn’t sell a replacement relay for their HD harness so we sourced a USA made product on Amazon. Easy and inexpensive fix.

Link to the harness? Might be good to have a spare.

To anyone trying to do this in mid-2021– I wasn’t able to find the Diode Dynamics harness in stock so I purchased this and it worked great:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/202467399229

other than the relay being a little bigger making the negative terminal ground bolt a pain to get back in, it worked perfect.

I had no idea what I was doing when I started but after laying all my stuff out and looking at the pics posted by @Scooby24 it started to make sense.

all in all it took me two hours start to finish and in extremely happy with the result. Could’ve taken half the time if you were experienced.

Just curious, the driver vs passenger side bulbs have a slightly different output (not color but like size and direction when looking at the output on my garage door) and I’m wondering if maybe I installed one bulb upside down from the other or didn’t fully seat one? Or is it common for them to not be exactly the same

Would it be a good idea to go ahead and purchase a replacement set of these in case they go out ? Being that they take like 4-6weeks to arrive after ordering.
Not sure if that’s smart or dumb, if the have a shelf life, etc. just curious everyone’s thoughts.

Little PSA for you guys with the relay harness.

TLDW: knock off fuses may not be protecting your circuits as they should be. Use name brand.

Just noticed today that one of my CN bulbs is out and its been less than 4 months since install. i suppose something could have worked its way loose but i doubt it.

pretty disappointed tbh but i did love the throw and brightness while it lasted.

anyone know any bulbs that will last longer and utilize the same wiring harness etc?

If you purchased the bulbs from "manufactory88" on Ebay, they are supposed to have a 2 year warranty. Contact the seller for a replacement.

So I need some advice. Since installing these lights with the wiring harness I used (linked to in a previous post) I’ve noticed that the majority of the time only one headlight is operational. It varies as to which light decides to work (as in it’s not always the passenger or driver). However if I turn the headlight switch on and off multiple times I can get the opposite light to engage and then go on my way. Sometimes I also have to turn the truck on and off again.

obviously it’s some sort of wiring issue. At one point in the past I noticed a loose barrel connector on the harness and re seated it. But since I’m able to get whichever light that’s off working again just by fiddling with the switch it makes me doubt it’s just another loose connector.

to anyone with electrical experience, any ideas? Bad ground or something like that?

How old is your kit / harness? I had this issue recently, ended up being a bad relay.

Thanks for the reply. It’s not even 6 months old and I’ve had this issue for at least a month.

I had the same symptoms. Flick the stalk an eventually it would fire up. Problem would move sides depending on what I did.

Damn okay that’s good to know. The wiring harness everyone else was using I couldn’t find anywhere, so I found this which seemed like good quality and met all the requirements:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/202467399229

Maybe it is decent quality and I just got a bad relay or maybe it’s crap. I’m assuming it’s possible to replace just the relay on a harness? Might be a dumb question.
