read this thread from the beginning and the answer to why it was used is in here. like mentioned, it's not needed (your lights will function w/o it) but the initial amp draw looks to be over 15A, as much as 20A, and it's on a 15A fuse. the relay cleans all that up for predictable and safe function w/o risk of blowing a fuse.

Did you use a relay? If not, did you switch to a 20a fuse?

I'd highly suggest using a relay as opposed to the factory harness. It gives you peace of mind that you're running from the battery as opposed to the factory harness and eliminates the possibility of backtalk from the HIDs causing extra problems

I am running a 20 amp fuse with no issues so far though stock wiring. Tony a picture was posted earlier in this thread that shows you where that fuse is under the hood.

I didn't see you using a relay or mention the fuse upgrade. My guess is you blew the main low beam fuse if you didn't upgrade that. You have a spare fuse under the fuse box cover to use if that did indeed blow. I recall my DRL working after the fuse blew but I also have the premium package with auto headlamp stalk which might make a difference there. Hopefully it didn't burn up the harness.

super supportive guys!! i found a fuse box has a diagram on the back cover which also indicated which fuse goes to which, so, i managed to pull out the headlight lamp (there is only one...15)...replaced with spare one for now...will get that 20 amp one in auto store today...thanks again!

good guess...!! thank you so much putting effort looking into this for me...

yes, DRL worked a bit, and then, it went out after i turn the car back on couple times and check if it was bad connection. the kit is well made, it was not a lose connection.

the fuse was blown, see picture below.

    IMG_1632.jpg

should i go 25amp? or stick with 20, like most people suggest?

read back in this thread to get the info about the waterproof relay, and install it. takes 5 minutes. and no more fuse problem.

do not put a 25A fuse in a 15A socket! (if that's what you're asking)

Come on guys. Can't stress it enough. If your going to do it. Do it right in the first place and you won't have issues. As has been shown in this thread a couple times now. Your running the fine edge of over drawing the circuit, if trying to run this system on the original wiring and fusing, Cheapest insurance you can buy is a proper Relay.

I am using a 20 amp with no issues for what its worth. I live on the edge I know. If I ever have problems I will post them up for sure. I am pretty sure the wiring for the other 20amp circuits has no difference in wire guage.

I am very pleased with these lights but after reading there was a big difference in light from 4300 to 6k I wanted to see what I was missing. I wanted to see if the color difference was much difference in light output so I recently bought a set of 5k bulbs from HID warehouse for like $12. Maybe I should have just got 4300 k instead, but I thought the 5k might be better. I swapped the drivers side and the difference was very minimal. I could hardly tell a difference in light output and color. When I really looked at it hard the pattern was a little different and if you looked at the light the color seemed different but it was so small a change. I had my wife out there for a short drive looking with me to help me look at it. I decided to keep the 6k lights since I preferred these installed and use the 5k for a backup if needed, but again there was very little difference just the slight blue hue. So from my aspect the 6k does not change the light out put from what I could tell. I just wanted to post my experiences with this.

I ordered this kit, 4300k with the upgraded round ball bulbs, and received it a couple days ago. Joyce was very helpful with the order and everything arrived well packaged. It took just about two weeks to get it delivered. Installation was easy with the help from this thread and the lights work great. Great output and color and a big upgrade from the stock halogen lights.

I was able to compare this Hyluxtek kit with the Xenon Depot Kit with the 4300k Philips bulbs. The Hyluxtek kit with upgraded round ball bulbs and the relay harness totaled $129.50. The Xenon Depot kit with upgraded Philips bulbs was $179.00 (usually $199 but they had a 10% off coupon available). So about a $50 price difference between the two.

Light color and output was almost the same, the Xenon Depot bulbs putting out a slightly more pure white light compared to the Hyluxtek bulbs which had a slightly warmer tone light. The Xenon Depot kit included the relay harness and the build quality of the bulb assembly was more robust than the Hyluxtek but they both locked into the headlight housing securely with no movement/bouncing while driving.

Both of these are great kits and a nice upgrade to the stock headlights and I think anyone would be happy with either one.

I seem to be getting flashed a bit once I pass drivers. I do have a 6" pro comp lift and 35's as well though. I might have to lower the headlight aim a little. I am guessing it is mostly my lift. Anyone else having issues blinding drivers?

yeah, 6 inches higher without adjusting the headlights you're probably squarely blinding folks. Needs to be reaimed after a lift.

No issues with other drivers since having installed for me.

I agree with you. I'd say it was your change in vehicle height over stock.
No flashing at all on my stocker with 265/75/16's. I used painters masking tape to mark the upper most horizontal pattern, that my oem lowbeams produced on my garage door before upgrading my lights.
Installed the HID's and the light cut off pattern was right on the money. Exactly the same as the oem's, only far brighter and whiter. Really lights up the road signs. The new hid's have small squirrel chasers but they don't seem to bother anyone asI never get flashed at unless I am hauling my trailer loaded with 8x Argo. Even then only rarely get flashed.
