This site has led me to meet people and I’ve made great friends. It wasn’t intentional by any means but I care about these guys and would do anything for them. I’ve met a few on here that have come and gone but I’m lucky enough to have quite a few I consider good friends and trust with my life. Almost all should be in our campsite come Jambo.

At 32 my Real Friends were few and far between I worked all the time. Now at 58 I have a bunch of true friends that I am in it for the long haul with. My Wife is still my best Friend and my Dog is solid by my side. What I am trying to say is give it time. Get a hobby .....Start a build thread and talk smack.

I know the feeling, and I'm 44. I grew up a military brat, so I kind of learned at an early age not to get attached to anyone. That carried over once my dad got out of the service and we settled. I still talk to a few people I went to high school with every now and then, but I think they would barely qualify as acquaintances at this point. I made a handful of really good friends when I was a firefighter. Most have died from one form of cancer or another (I'm probably not too far behind them in that regard), but one is still around. We've seen each other twice in the past 20 years. There's an old FWB that I've known since '99, we've lived together a couple of times and almost got married at one point, but now we just talk a couple of times a month. So aside from the folks I've met, camped with, and wheeled with from this site, I got nothing. Which actually works out well, since I typically travel 3 weeks out of every 4.

38, same boat. Moved around for work quite a bit. My wife is definitely my best friend, plus i work shift work, try having friends working weekends and sleeping during the day...

I have connected with a few people on (some overlanding website) that share similar interests that have turned out to be great friends. The people i work with are mostly crazy, and the friends I’ve had for awhile all decided to have kids... so wheeling and fishing friends it is for me!!!!

Had to edit that didn’t realize TW blanks out other websites

This thread is depressing. Makes me wonder why Toyota even makes a double cab Tacoma. It’s like Tacoma owners don’t have any friends.

I'm 46 and have quite a few acquaintances but only a couple real friends. I like it that way, too many people will screw you over nowadays.

I'm 51 and also only have more than a few acquaintances and no real true bonding friends. My issues are that I have and do what ever I want when I want and I never get blocked by the wife cause of her odd work schedule and with the friend thing its all bout spending keeping and doing for...........

I’m 41 and I don’t have any close friends. My wife and I get along really well and do a lot of things together, but she will NOT come off roading or camping with me. She isn’t really the outdoor type of person. My daughter is my main sidekick and best friend. She loves off roading and camping, but she’s getting to that age where I know she’s going to start spending more time with her friends. Looks like I’ll be flying solo more often.

When I was young, I thought I needed all sorts of friends. So I took it for granted everyone who was friendly was my friend. They were in the same boat as me.

As life moved forward, I learned (often the hard way) that many of these people weren't my friends.

Eventually I figured out it was family that really mattered.

A few close friends....very few....people I can actually count on.

    A wife, 2 kids, 6 grand kids....and a handful of aquaintences.
