Make this run in a Jeep and report back. Wasn't made to do it, but it did it way better than ever expected. Layton Utah to Blythe California. Still can't believe with no special brakes, no weight distribute type of hitch, it done it so easy.

I regret I'll never have the joy of going to a car wash called the Mighty Beaver.

I always expected to be amazed at the off rode capability of this truck, and I am. Never expected to be amazed at how versatile it is.

Lets face it, there are some places a Taco can't climb, that a Jeep can. But they make a great Jeep recovery truck.

Its not just the tires. This truck seems to have excellent weight distribution over the wheels that allows it good traction. Other trucks i've had even my tundra felt front heavy with hardly any weight in the rear. The gen3 tacoma feels so well balanced.

I don't see a stock jeep being any better than my truck off roading.

Yes! My truck amazes me everytime I’m off-road.

In some cases, jeeps shorter wheelbase is better off-road. 3rd gen Tacomas weak point is it’s wheelbase and terrible departure angle. Ask me how I know.:)

front locker, better approach angle, metal bumpers, but less comfort, handling, reliability and higher insurance

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Yeah, it is pretty exciting when you first get to test it out. I am on my 4th 4x4 over 35 years, and you know it never gets old. Still excited on every trip.

I have had my Taco for 4 years, and maybe 150 or so off road trips. Retired, so it is as full time as my wife will permit. :)

Down some pretty bad roads. Bad enough that when I show other local Taco owners or guys with full size trucks the pics, they are like "I'm not taking my truck down that spot" So yeah, they perform quite well.

That said, a stock Tacoma is not going to go spots many Jeeps can go. Too much overhang with our back bumpers so a lot of washouts that Jeeps can handle, we can't.

I have bent my trailer hitch and my rear bumper from literally a thousand or more deep washouts. A lot of deactivated roads in BC that are more suited to ATVs. I guess a plain steel rear bumper is next for me. Something that stands up a little better to the abuse.

So a lifted Jeep will access some spots a lifted Tacoma will not. If you are into really testing your trucks limits.

For me, a Jeep does not work as I need a pickup bed for hauling my stuff, and it gets me down 90% of the trails I attempt, so it works for me.

If I had the cash, I would own a beater Jeep for some remote fishing lakes I can't access now, but being retired free cash is no longer a thing. I have hit 2 lakes like that this past summer, and too far to hike so I could only stare from a distance. :)

    Enjoy the truck!

This! A Tacoma is a truck and it’s different. For a truck it’s going to take you about anywhere you want to go and it has a bed. You don’t need a goofy hitch hauler like a Jeep owner does. You can go down a trail or go to Home Depot and be good to go.

No money, all went to truck...
Do Jeep engineers/designers get together and purposely try to build the ugliest SUVs possible?

100%. 3rd gen Tacomas weak spot is wheelbase and departure angle. I had first hand experience:)
