My first ever outing last Monday, I managed to catch six. I went to the fishing store in Cotati CA and literally walked around the store with a sales person asking, “okay, what else do I need?”

The next day, with zero skills, I had the entire beach to myself. I caught the six. I brought home two bigger ones and fried them up whole. Super delicious. My wife wants more!!

It would be an understatement to say I’m hooked.

I have chest waders on a fedex truck as we speck. I’m buying another rod- one step heavier. Plus the reel. I’ve learned a bunch of new knots, new tricks, etc. this is kinda gear heavy.

    I’m hooked!

Anyone else? Need a partner? Surf fishing solo feels not 100% safe. I never turn my back on the ocean. But you never know.

I surf fish off and on. I usually head out to the northern coast of Oregon. You guys got any red-tail surf perch down there?

Nice fish! Enjoy yourself and be safe. I didn't get into fishing until I was in my 20's and I've been obsessed ever since.

Yea. Bass fishing started it all for me. My brother bought a bass boat. Kinda hard going back to shore fishing for bass. Surf fishing is perfect shore fishing. Had to relearn casting for distance. Bass fishing involves such simple casts and flips.
