Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
I am very satisfied with mine, even after putting on the bigger tires 265/75 16. My friends cant believe its only a 4banger.

I'm glad were mostly agreeing. Just for shits I decided to post my "speed" machine. My 1973 Honda cb350f I've had since I was 17. Unfortunately living in Montana we only see so much ride time.

Lol, my 4.0 didn't get me out of a hairy situation in time in my case. I know, I know, it's a Ford but that engine was still running damn near upside down after splitting a telephone pole and flipping a couple times. Carefull when passing on roads with steep shoulders!

Honestly, for a 4 cyl. truck, it's pretty decent. You can't really expect much, but I have to say im pretty happy with it, even under a heavy load. sure on steep grades you might need to keep it in a lower gear, but it'll keep up with traffic. I really like how it does have some decent low end torque, for a 4 cyl anyway.

I would have loved a 4-cyl access cab TRD offroad with manual. In fact it's what I went looking for to replace my 1986 4Runner with the 4-cyl 22RE. But alas Toyota doesn't sell them in Colorado (concerns over altitude robbing power) and none of the dealers were willing to try and get me one.

I wanted the 2.7 engine, I really have no need for a V6.

I'm happy with the way the engine performs. Around a month ago there was an Ohio meet and some of us got stuck behind a slow moving car. Once the car changed lanes, my truck was busting balls, had no problem going 75 mph up a steep incline...and climbing in MPH.

Once I figured out my abnormal ignition issues my 4 cyl has plenty of torque for what I want out of it. It's my daily driver, not a race car....

I think it has the right amount to get me where I'm going. I have had 2 other Toyota pickups all with 4cyl and dont mind being in such a hurry. I love getting about 23 on the highway now that gas just went up to $3.05 a gallon here in Minnesota. Like another post said if I want to go fast I have a Kawasaki ZRX1100.....

I think it's a slug. I don't like the power in mine at all, but hey, it's a 4 banger. I a am stuck with it. The truck is very reliable and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

The v6 would of come in handy doing freeway speeds over hills with 2 12' kayaks up on the overhead racks pushing against a 30mph headwind with 32x11s but other than that it does alright, for a daily driver it's fine. Like has been stated, have other things to go fast in........

Nope. slow as sh*t. Its because i have an automatic... My friend has a manual ford ranger. When he drove my truck he just laughed at how slow it was. I like the top end speed though. I occasionaly drive around 90 on the highway because passing people is fun. The truck drives like its going 40. No difference or problems at all. But the acceleration is HORRIBLE! If i would change one thing i would increase the accelreation. But the plus to slow truck is i get great MPG :D

I love the little 2.7l. great gas mileage especially compared to the 6.0l it replaced. plus with the five speed it is actually fun to drive around town:D

I like it! But...if it was my only truck it would've been a V6. Mine gets 22-26 mpg according to the season...right now it stays in 4x4, and will until about late April. My other truck is a diesel.

I think mine has plenty of balls... way quicker to get up and go than our V6 MDX or the V8 Suburban. They're pretty light vehicles... mine also stops way faster than moms or dads. The other day in the rain I was able to roast the tires halfway through third... It can't be that slow

I am really enjoying my 2.7L truck. I didn't buy it to race, yet I find passing on the highway to be easy enough. Also, I wanted a regular cab more than I wanted a 6 cylinder engine. The 2.7L is great, even paired with an automatic transmission...so, no complaints here.

nothing wrong with a 4cyl truck if it suits your needs, i rocked a 99 mazda b2500 for 2.5 yrs before my current truck .... needed more haul capacity / towing .... and kinda wanted something bigger. Whats great is if i decide its too slow, theres always the s/c route
