Yup, thats when the engine cutoff activates.. When i first got my truck I tried it out on the fwy, it hits 109 then the tranny automatically disengages until it coasts down to about 90.

 

my truck doesnt do that she limits at 109 but it doesnt slow down till 90 then pick back up.

 

i wonder if my truck has a gov

prev truck was limited at 94 mph ... pissed me off!

 

I hope you never get into an accident going that fast, and if you do you better not take anybody else to the grave with you.

sorry had too lol i got the 5.7 and i speed everywhere and it saves my ass everyday without fail in downtown houston. my dads taco has the v6 and i gotta say it smokes my old 01 in acceleration the bigger the better

my 99 mazda was a stick and it still disengages ... i downshifted to fourth and same result .... its the same deal

 

break open the wallet. One thing I found out here in North Carolina from my kids getting tickets as soon as you get one the mailbox is flooded with letters from lawyers. My daughter got her speeding tickets reduced to non moving violations for paying a lawyer $250.00 bucks and going to a sat driving school class. No points, no fine, didn't even have to go to traffic court.

 

I've hit 110 and I probably could have pushed it farther...it didn't kill the power, and I cruised at that speed for a little while without issue.

2.7L 5 speed.

 

My 5-speed '08 4 cyl hit 102 according to my GPS, speedo was up around 110 then the computer ended the fun. Only did it once to silence the GF who always whines that I drive to slow.

i wonder if the five lugs top out a little more because of their lower c.o.g. my prerunner kills the motor at 105 and as your approaching 103 104 you hear a quiet high pitched beep

 

Not sure...maybe the gearing has something to do with it? 3.31 on the stick shifts and 3.58 (I think) on the auto's?

 

actually the prerunners have 4.10's, but yeah i don't know either lol

 

Not anymore, the new prerunners w/ the 2tr and 4 speed auto have a 3.58 rear end as well.

And the top speed is around 118 on the v6 trucks, never tried yo reach it on my truck yet. it's an electronic governor that shuts either the spark or the fuel off. I'm pretty sure most 05+trucks have enough power/gearing to reach that without hitting redline. The only thing that might differ is an actual speed rating, due tothe incosistancies between the different models tire sizes, and/or if you have aftermarket rims or tires.

 

I might have to test mine out to see where exactly my gov. is set to.

 

i just looked at toyota.com thats weird... i guess single cab prerunners are dead? oh well makes me like mine that much more with stock 4.10s lol
