It runs. Next is a frame check. If the frame checks out then why the hell not???

Those old 3.0 v6s were a blight on Toyotas reputation for building reliable engines...grossly underpowered and they had notorious headgasket leaking/blowing issues. Make sure it runs well...then again if it's free its still a great deal even if the engine needs work.

Also, try to find a 85-86 front solid axle to swap in :)

This thread is weirding me out. I thought the older gens could do no wrong, and the 3rd gens were the downfall of Toyota?

The 4 bangers were the engine that made toyota well known. My 3.0 is an awsome engine but 120 hp when it was new? Now 408k on an untouched engine. Yes no headgasket usdues YET. but replaced tge exhaust at 50k so it goes under the engine nit above it.

    Update*******

Went and saw the truck today, man its been some shitty weather out. Engine in the second one and is rebuilt. It is a 3.0 out of a 4runner with 170,000 miles... Truck will start but will not move. Uncle Randy apparently said its got a messed up slave cylinder?? Idk need to research it. May have to have it towed to the house.

I drove/owned A LOT worse vehicles than that. One of them was a AMC Spirit Sport (like below) without doors, no A/C, no power steering...That taco would have been a blessing.vbvbvvbv.jpg

Maybe someone with a mechanical background and lots of experience in bringing old vehicles back to life should take it then, so, when can I pick it up? ;)

I have dreams about someone saying to me, “hey, my crazy uncle has a car in his yard, he said someone can come get it” and it being exactly that truck, or a Miata, or BMW 2002, 64 Mustang, C10 pickup...

If the 3.0 is shot you could always do a 3rz-fe swap.

1994, ah yes, I had my young and spunky, perfect body, hottie girlfriend, my Irish Setter dog would have been 2 years old, and I had very little stress and everything was pretty much care free. Good times.

Back on subject, you could do it up in a Back to the Future Style.

Not saying you do want electronics, have you ever looked at the intake manifold on the 3vze? there are like 30 vacuum lines just on the top...
