For the fuel pump chriping, try using 93 oct for 2 tanks. I did that and my chrip dissappear. Now i use 89oct or a mix of 87 and 93.

I’ve updated with my full journey. It’s both for me at this point.

    Assembly, manufacturing, service.

Across all my issues it’s been in the engine, body, suspension, drivetrain, electrical system, HVAC system.

Just unfortunate that no one takes pride of their work and just not doing the right thing anymore. Truly sad.

Makes me worry about it if my Tacoma gets the leaky chain cover issue. Man..here I was thinking that Toyota would stand behind their product. I hope it works out for ya man, that’s absolutely crappy.

I have everything but the oil leak documented, I even have an instance where I filled out a random email survey from Toyota and took the time to note all my issues, Toyota Corp actually reached out to me and turned all my answers into a case and coordinated a drop off at the dealer (a year or so ago.)

I’ve updated the original post with my entire journey with this vehicle, it’ll put my frustrations more in perspective, goes beyond just the leak at this point.

And yes I will try to open a case for the oil leak shortly.

Thanks! I appreciate it, I feel like sure they aren’t what they used to be, they’re still great trucks and I legitimately got a bad roll of the dice on the purchase.

Hah! I laughed and was like hey, for TW, I’m not doing too bad getting razzed yet.

I had the idea and need today to make this tread to get some data I can bring to the table. It’s gonna get real.

I’ve never actually seen Toyota decline a repair for a timing cover leak. Hell we did one a few weeks ago that Toyota Paid for the repair at 80k for the guy... (so I was told)

    I’d raise hell

No tech is going to want that job but it is not up to them unfortunately. It's all initiated by the service manager.

Doesn't the lemon law apply in these sort of scenarios? I'm not super familiar with it though

I won’t know until I do a bit more legwork, I have to get the current situation handled while looking into my options.

It sucks. It’s a bit out of control at this point!

Lemon laws apply to the same repair 3 or more times or the vehicle has been out of service for more than 30 days.... this varies by state though.
It will go to arbitration first usually. There the dealer has to put up the first $5000.00 for that process. So they typically will fix it than go that route, as the repair is cheaper than the other options for the dealer.

Thanks for the info, this is from my state AG:

The law has special refund and replacement provisions for cars that have substantial defects or problems. Such vehicles are commonly called “lemons.” Under the law, if the manufacturer or its authorized dealer has been unable to repair a car’s problem after a “reasonable number of attempts,” the buyer or lessee may go through a manufacturer’s arbitration program, or to court, to seek a replacement vehicle or a full refund of the car’s purchase price (minus a deduction for use of the vehicle). The law presumes a “reasonable number of attempts” to include any one of the following:

    1. Four or more unsuccessful attempts to repair the same defect; or,
    2. One unsuccessful attempt to repair a defect that has caused the complete failure of the steering or braking system and that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven; or,
    3. A car that has been out of service due to warranty repairs for 30 or more cumulative business days.
In each case, the initial defect must occur within the warranty period, or two years following the original delivery date, whichever comes first, but the manufacturer’s repair attempts may extend to the end of the third year. Even if your repair history does not fall into one of the above categories, you may still have a lemon law claim, but it will be harder to prove.
