I Need You! For this short and anonymous survey. I need to collect some data for my engineering project this year. My teammates and I are designing a new type of hydraulic press frame for the home/DIY mechanic. The idea, so far, is to fabricate an affordable frame that will function as a hydraulic press with an automotive jack, a bottle jack, or a scissor jack (because most DIY mechanic have one of these three jacks, but not access to a press). If you have any ideas or remarks about it, please let me know, I am open to criticism. If any of you are professional mechanics and/or engineers and are willing to provide insight at certain points throughout the year that would be much appreciated!

Be careful with your class work and don't into a plagiarism situation. It's not like you have a fresh idea here.

And there are YouTubes on how to DIY using a variety of components. Some good, some not so much. Point is, the concept is pretty common, and fairly old.

I have an automotive AC vacuum pump made from a water cooler compressor. It works great. I'd bet you don't find many of those in DIY tool shops. :)

Thank you for the response! We are researching patents right now and have not found any copyright infringements. Our idea so far is to make a much more adaptive press to boost portability and keep costs low.

We have seen a few DIY's for homemade presses but nothing similar to our idea.

While this seems like a good idea There are quite a few versions of this floating around

While a press is nice a break seems to be much more useful
