I told ya I'd drive home a PRO over this! 2 cylinders failed leak down test. Only 16K miles.

I started to work this morning and immediately noticed my truck felt like it had a tire out of balance in the back. Felt it through the seat of my pants and not through the steering wheel.
2020 3.5 V6 Auto. 16,000 miles right at 2 years old never a single issue All tires showing 36-37 psi. At around 1500 rpm it feels like it has a misfire or more to the point. A tire out of balance. If I mash the accelerator and let it shift down and the rpms climb to above say 2000 it immediately smooths out. So no tire issue. No dash lights other than the service reminder to rotate the tires. (oil changed at 7K & 14K). When I got to work I also notice it seemed to be idling a little rough. Filled up with gas about 10 days ago, down to about 1/2 a tank. No issues till this morning. If it keeps doing it I'll take it by the Dealer.
Anyone else experience this or similar? Possibly a little bad gas. I did just for poo's and giggle's remove and retighten the gas cap just before I went into work. Thoughts?

[EDIT] Check engine and traction control off lights both on now. Still on after restarting.

[EDIT] #2 & #6 Cylinders failed compression test.
Dealership opened a case with Toyota Corporate.

[EDIT] Truck is repaired at the 10 day mark as promised.

Do you have a tune on your truck? I had idling issues going from 700 up to 1500rpm sporadically until I got a tune, now it idles right at 600.

If it had a misfire it should be throwing a code.

The first thing that comes to mind is a driveline issue... failing center carrier bearing perhaps? Definitely get a scan tool on it and check for codes.

If you have the ability to read pending codes, look and see what DTCs might be recorded. If you have already went through 1/2 tank, I doubt it's bad gas. I think your tire pressure is a little high for cold stock tires but I doubt that has anything to do with it, either. Put it into neutral while you are at speed and see if the vibration continues. That will tell you if it is a engine or other issue.

No Tune. 100% stock. Never done this before until this morning. Like i said it feels more like a tire out of balance but it's not. Let the rpms climb at the same speed smooth's right out.

Well on the way home it got worse and this popped up. But by the time I got home (11 miles) it was running almost perfect. But this didn't go away. Even after a restart.

Its pissed! Take it to the dealer or have it towed in on their dime. No need for you to even worry about this.

An ODBII scanner (I use a BlueTooth Dongle) and a program like TorquePro download to your phone is a good way to determine why your CEL is illuminated. The truck is trying to speak to you... For some problems, you might not want to drive it.

Tacomas can be very sensitive about gas. You most likely just got a tank of sub-par gas. What you're feeling is definitely knock, and the ecu pulling timing. Be thankful you're not one of us fortunate Taco owners who can't run any regular gas without knock/retard.

What owner population has problems with regular unleaded gas and engine knock?

Take a quick look underneath and all 4 tires. Maybe you ran over something and it got to a harness or abs wire? Just a guess

It's defiantly an engine misfire at times. Even idles rough when parked sometimes. Funny thing is it only does it about 20% of the time it's running. Rest of the time smooth as a baby's bottom. Got an appointment at the Doctor this afternoon for it.

A few possibilities .... have the dealer check the vehicle.
A misfire can be caused by many things, three most occurring are:

Bad spark plug or wire / connection, clogged fuel injector or even a valve that is not seating.
Its good that it threw a code, it maybe the knock sensor. Get a qualified mechanical diagnosis.
It will save you time and aggravation.

If you find the cylinder that is affected swapping injectors and spark plug / wires will confirm if its a valve.
But this is an old school approach,.... go to the dealer today. Plugging it in takes 5 minutes.

If so try only running a top tier gas brand. I've run only shell or irving in my 3.5, so far 87 regular thats E10 here works very well.
