I told ya I'd drive home a PRO over this! 2 cylinders failed leak down test. Only 16K miles.

Dude that sucks. I’m about to be out of powertrain warranty and threads like this make me cringe. Hope Toyota makes it right but the Toyota of late seems to be no more these days.

    I'll reply with.
Dude, as many Taco's as you've had? You know Toyota reliability. Thanks for the reply. We both know this is not the norm.

True. Though I haven’t owned a third gen past the 60k mark but my 2nd gens and 1st were great.

OP, congrats on dealing with this like an adult.

It's a refreshing change of pace. Some of the people posting here could take notes.

I agree, same for me and my plagued 16, I took a rental even was a prius, no compliants, opened a case with corporate after the 2nd diff, let them come up with a solution and kept buying Toyotas. I've just seen recently how they've handled some valid warranty claims here as well as those on the Tundra forums with that mess and the new gen and starting to question if Toyota is still as customer service driven as they used to be.

My rental was an Altima with the CVT.

    Check build thread!
Hey, you know what- it could be worse.

My mother’s 19 Jeep JL dropped a valve (3.6, 6M) and she got a 2 year old Chevy spark as a loaner (in the dead of winter, she lives on a farm with a 2km long dirt driveway, and it was on summers) and then the dealer tried to get her to pay for it.

Complained to corporate and they, to their credit, fined the dealer, and gave her a rebate on a new Jeep (got her a loaded rubi for the cost of her base sport).

I'd drive it right through the showroom windows, shit on the sales manager's desk, bang the service writer's wife, demand a brand new pro with super duper warranty and lifetime free services.
Oh, sorry. I thought it was friday. :cookiemonster:
Sucks this happened. I hope they resolve it quickly.

It would help to find out how many have suffered a cylinder wall crack to date vs the number of trucks produced

Or how many Chevys had bad axels or How many Fords had transmission problems maybe Frontier's with broken timing chains? At this point we don't even know what's wrong with the OP's engine but I don't even think it's mechanical. Low compression on #6? Is it down 5 psi or 50? Or just a guess?

Thank you. There's no reason in a situation like this for being unprofessional. Toyota is under no obligation to give me a new Truck, lifetime membership to Disney World or a free Birthday Party each year on my Birthday. Their obligation is to repair the truck as close as possible back to it's original condition. I've been given a good car to drive with no hassle. I will wait and see what the final diagnosis is and go from there. If in the future I need to be firm on something I will be. But still in a civil and professional manner. Threats, yelling and screaming has never improved any business situation.

[EDIT] But I will demand that I drive home in a Pro when this is all over! And Toyota is obligated to make sure I do! :D

[EDIT] And Toyota did send me home in a Pro as I demanded!:oldglory:

I just hope toyota isn't relying on their past reliability ratings when i asked the same question to the dealer when buying my 2020 as they were pushing hard for the extended warranty, while telling me toyota no longer gives the store away.

Depends on how much trust you place in the word of a saleeman. The service writer i used to deal with told me not to bother with the extended warranty, but told me to get the separate wheel warranty. Since he didn't get a cut of either, i trusted him more han i would a salesman.

The way this guy came across, you'd think he was working for the mob...I really pissed him off when i refused his extended warranty agreement, even after he offered a few hundred off. He acted like he just made an offer i couldn't refuse, but i did.
