I waited HOW long for my first truck?!?

First post ever, first new vehicle, first truck ever, first Tacoma ever!

Wait until you read this: I have been "stalking" Tacomas for nine years! And I don't mean casual, "Gee, I'd like a truck. Tacomas are nice." I'm talking about obsessive road watching, Toyota.com truck-building, dealer-stalking, trucker owner envy. Here is why I waited: I'm a teacher; my wife is a teacher. We decided she'd stay home with our two boys on my salary. WOW. Challenging - 2001 I started wanting a truck. 2002-03 I wanted a Toyota. 2005 I HAD to have the new Tacoma. By 2007, anybody could have asked how long before my wife returned to work, and I had it nailed to weeks and days. By last year, when my younger son had a year left before Kindergarten, I started obsessing every time I saw one on the road. It was R I D I C U L O U S. Late 2009 I bookmarked Tacomaworld.com!!! By June 2010, I must have built my own Toyota on Toyota.com 100 times! Seriously. July 4, Independence Day: I make "the trip" like a gleeful kid. It's gorgeous. No mods at all - just a Prerunner TRD off road - brilliant red. 12 miles. I am now an official member and wouldn't join until I came home with my truck. My boys call it the Red Taco. Did I mention it had only 12 miles? Glad to be on board.

 

Great to have you aboard! Sounds like me when I started looking for a vehicle.

Welcome and I feel the same way. I rolled around with an odyssey for four years til my lil girl only needed a booster seat and that's when I went straight to the dealer and trade it for my new 2010 double cab 4x4 off-r. Really when I left target store after buying the booster seat I went straight to the dealer! Congrats!
