I've always wanted one. When I had my Scout II and was 18 and poor, when I had my TJ and was cheap, always! Never had a winch ever either. Wheeled the TJ enough to rebuild the trans and engine from abuse/failure but never got stuck. Why do I want this thing? I've never needed a heavy duty bumper before or a winch. I won't wreck my Tacoma like I did my TJ. Overlanding to me means not trying to use it as a boat and avoiding hard abusive odstacles, but the look is so awesome. I just want one.

Tell me I'm crazy, tell me to buy it, or convince me why it's not a good bumper.

    Truck it's going on.

ARB bumpers have too many square angles on them for my taste. A color matched pelfreybuilt would look much better imo.

I just don't like the skinniness and lower openings on the pelfreybuilt

It's ugly and heavy. Unless you need to herd cattle, why spoil the look of a nice truck.

I always vote Pelfreybilt, but if you're dead set on not getting that then I say go with the ARB.

You've had your heart set on one for years, so go with it!

Skip. Find a local fabricator to support if you want an aftermarket bumper.

Buy the one that you like. Make sure you get new suspension for it. It's heavy, but I love the way it looks.

Do it ,it would look good. Plus it it a very stout bumper. Life is short, if you can afford it, pull the trigger. Color match would be a nice touch. I want one for deer protection, but $$$$

So I bought, not built. My truck was setup as is when purchased

6" fabtech DB lift. Regardless of bumper, will I need to upgrade to support added weight and if so, suggestions?

I got lucky and got mine on the 2nd Gen marketplace from another TW member. I don't think I would've ever got one if I hadn't found that one (and it was only a state away!), because the price tag for new was way over what the ol' man could stomach. It cost me even more to get it put on last fall (new Bilstein's all around and OME 885 front springs), but I LOVE it! Of course, it does help to have a reason for it too; mine is due to the herds of deer that are here year round. So what happens? One runs full speed into the fkn SIDE of my truck instead a week or so ago. :frusty: You can't win them all, I guess.

yours should be fine since its 6" you will have rake after the install. The bumper is a heavy beast.....but its one of the most versatile ones on the market. Has two hilift points up front and very few even have this option these days. Like many have said...buy what you like. In my area, pelfrey and scs are very common and arb not so much.
