If the driver's side weighs more does it not need more spring pressure on the side? You'd not want equal preload.

Thats just going to add more length to the Extended Co's. It could make them too long....Just dial in a little extra preload.

Thats just it chris! its not just a little bit more preload. I have to crank the drivers side to the max in order to level it out...
Over a half inch more thread then the passenger side. Thats just not right, in my mind....

1/2" is normal. Some have to adjust more.

Oh, and I understand that making the coilover longer could be bad for my Ball joint.
But is a 1/4" something to worry about?

Im not ganna be topping out the coilovers all the time, if ever...

But I thaught a 1/2" of threads is sappose to give 1" of lift? Or are these coilovers not like that?

If they are extended travel, Yes, it could be bad on your balljoints. You should be running a Uniball UCA with those anyway.

    No, Thats correct. .5" = 1" lift.

The adjustment collar compresses the spring. Spring rate determines the actual amount of lift. If you have a full tank of gas, or stuff in the best or passenger compartment, or whatever, you may have to adjust more than others.

This isn't an exact science. The more you work with vehicles, the more you learn the meaning of the term "within tolerance".

Some people have an inch of taco lean. Some people have 1/8th inch. That's just how it goes when you're dealing with complex machines with thousands of parts - there's a range for everything, and as long as you're in it, it's no worry.

Dial the preloads to a ride height you like and forget about it man. You're overthinkin' here.

    I got TC UCA's.

So that means that I need 1" more lift on the drivers side to level it out! Thats some major Taco lean!

Happens. I've seen people on here measure as high as 1.5" of lean.

Also, are you going back to the passenger side after you set the driver's side and re-measuring? Because often adjusting one side will cause both sides to change ride height.

Re-check both sides after all adjustments, but drive a couple miles first with some stiff braking to settle the suspension.

Probably! But I am picky about my Truck. and the Ride quality.. :D

But I dont want to ruin anything, so Im just ganna have to deal with the extra preload on the drivers side I geuss....

I do check both sides after adjusting, and I will driving around for a little bit before re-measureing...
Im ganna check it again today. to make sure Im where I want to be.

Also make sure the surface you are measuring on is level.

^ Yeah my shop is pretty level....
I got it dialed in and Im just ganna deal with the extra preload on the drivers side, I dont want to damage anything by lengthening a Extended travel coilover.....

Most all Tacoma's with a 3" lift are around 23" and 23.5" from center of hub to fender. Im at 23.25" driver and almost 23.5" passenger.

So I wouldnt go above 23.5"....

And the only down side of going past 2" of thread showing is the ride gets stiffer and you lose more down travel....

Talked to Icon about that. They said as long as you have at least 2" of down travel you can adjust all you want.

I do have Icon's and I converted them to extended travel. At 3" of lift I have almost 3" of down travel and the front compliments my rear Dakars perfectly.
Just trying to let people know that the 2" of exposed thread is an old spec from Icon.

^^Thanks! I didnt run the spacer and it rides great at 3" lift.... I love it!
I measured out about 3 almost 4" of down travel with my TC UCA's and thats plenty for me.
Now I just need to get rid of my cheap ass 265's and get some 285's to complement the lift... :)
