Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    Your point?

He's complaining that he bought some random stuff with little research and now he's throwing money at it to fix it and he's blaming Icon for his decision.

I run that exact tire on mine with the icon stage 3 and stock rims. I have not had any rubbing or any issues at all. I did not do a CMC or run spacers either

Thanks man. I left my fronts set from the factory when i first installed it. After she settled a bit i maxed them out to the 2.13" from Icon and it looks a lot better. Sorry to hear that you had some rubbing, but it makes me feel a little bet better, I was thinking about going your route too. Now I just need to find another stock wheel to buy, which isn't too easy.

Hey how were you able to mount a 285 tire on a 7 inch wide rim? The tire manufacturer (BFG) says a minimum width must be 7.5? What shop mounted them? Also do your tires stick out much?

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Hey guys, I'm about to order a lift, I just wanted your thoughts real quick before I pull the trigger. So I have a steel bumper and winch going on which will add over 250lbs in the front. I'm running 265/75/16s on stock OR wheels. I would like as much lift as is reasonable and functional (not cranking down preload all the way). This is what I'm planning to order:

Icon 2.5 with res and 700lb coils.

    Total chaos uni-ball UCAs

Dakar leaf packs, removing overload, possibly even overload+middle

Icon 2.0 standard travel with res

My question is, with all the weight in the front, even with the 700lb springs I don't think I will get more than an inch and a half, maybe closer to an inch over stock.

So am I correct in thinking theres no need for the extended travel rear shock? I am only trying to achieve no more than 2" in the rear, since I will get less than that in front. I like the factory rake, but I'm OK with adding another inch of rake. Not more than that preferably.

With the standard travel, I won't need to change brake lines or install bump stops either which is nice.

Thanks for any input, it is appreciated.

Go with the 700lb springs you will get an inch and a half in the front with them set at about 3/8 of threads showing. I have the icon stage 3. I love it so far.

Left mine in at first, but ride was rough. Much better after taking them out.

Thanks! Do you have a bumper? Do you think I need the extended travel in the rear?

I do not have a front bumper, not yet, and i have the extended travel in the front but in the back i assume they are the extended travel 0-3in, the leafs basically control the range of travel. Does icon specify if they are extended travel for the reasr? i just have the 2.0 with res they work great.

I went to Discount Tire, not sure where you're at but they are everywhere here in Colorado. I actually was thinking 275, but they didn't have them in stock so I tried the 285. No issues at all so far and they don't stick out past the wheel much at all. Im happy I ended up going with them and my mpg has not taken the hit I was expecting.

Yes, there are both standard and extended travel rear shocks. Seems like most of the kits come with extended travel, but they don't include bump stops. Aside from bump stops, extended travel also require longer brake lines.

Marie at Headstrong told me longer bump stops are pretty much required with the extended travels in the rear. Otherwise you risk damaging the shock because it is the limiting factor in up-travel without longer than factory bump stops.

She gave me some numbers which I jotted down. The standard Icon 2.0 rear is 14.25" compressed and 24" out. The extended is 15.9" compressed and 26.5" out. With the extended you gain droop, but lose up-travel.

For my purposes (heavy bumper and winch, don't want to preload very much) I will only gain maybe an inch in front over stock (2" on a gen 2). So since I don't want a ridiculous rake, I will be taking out the overload leaf and probably even the 3rd leaf from my dakar leaf packs which should put me around 2" in the rear.

She definitely knows her stuff, very nice and smart girl. I learned more from talking to her for 30 mins than I have been able to spending hours and hours on this forum. I would look into the model number of your shocks and see. Did you do carrier bearing? How much lift did you get in the rear with the Icon AAL?

Good to know and are the extended rears only come in the 2.5? Or do they make the 2.0's in extended, because i looked at the 2.5 rears and they are spendy!

If you look at wheelers website they have a part number 56503r ext. which is weird because for the front coilovers they change the part number when it goes from standard travel to extended. I also could not find that part number on Icon's website. They only have the standard travel 56503r which is what they say comes with the stage kits.

I wonder if wheelers revalves them themselves. The only place I see 56503r ext is on their website.
