these sound right to me. i will say that you will notice a massive difference in perfomance with a 26.8 inch shock over a 24 inch shock, that down travel may make the difference in those rocky off camber tough spots.

OP, go with these, but be sure to confirm if a bump stop extension is needed with them or not, it will be getting very close..

I appreciate yours and everyone else's tios, suggestions and advice. It's all been very helpful. I plan on doing the u bolt flip kit with longer bump stops as well. Also the extended brake lines.

I'm researching till my eyes fall out so that I only have to do all this one time. I'd be pissed if I rushed into it and wasted a bunch of money on shit that didn't work. My money tree died the day I became a cop so re doing everything is not an option!

agreed on doing it right the 1st time. i've done it the wrong way a bunch of times and had to do it over.

i must have missed that you were doing the u-bolt flip and bumps, perfect plan :) you will enjoy the extra down travel from the 26.8 long icons! you're gonna have a fantastic setup!

On these extended icon rears are the eyelet mounts extended? Is that how they achieve the extended length?

I'm not sure, I'd have to look into it further. I do know that they are longer than then OME shocks that I replaced.

The ones I have are 26.8" long, as compared to 23.25" for the standard 2.0.

Yeah I just wanted to make sure they didn't achieve the longer extension with a longer eyelet mount, before I spend my cash on them would be a waste of money :D

Icon MT suspension, Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Relentless skids, Avid sliders, Avid custom rack. Pelfreybilt HC Rear bumper.
I am working this issue right now. I have the extended travel ICON kit which requires aftermarket Upper Control arms up front (I have Camburg UCA's, but they all do same thing), my rear shocks in the Icon set are p/n 56503R which are rated by Icon for 0 to 1.5" lift. There will not allow full droop when you have the OME Dakar springs, but several folks here use them anyway. For full flex capability (full droop) you will need custom built shocks with a longer stroke. Problem is this entails a longer shock and to keep your upper position (suspension bottomed out, wheel all the way up) I beleive you would need to relocate the shock top mount. Alternately you can use a taller bump stop to limit travel, but this kind of defeats some of the purpose of longer wheel travel as you are at this point just moving the same travel to a higher position. Ground clearance is improved in any case. I need the additional load capacity but have not decided if I want to replace my Icon RR rear shocks or not....

Edit to add: per the Icon specs my 56503R are 24" extended, 14.25 colapsed.

You might need extended front brake lines and possibly a limiting strap

My thinking with the extended rears was to get more droop out of my Dakars and take care of the collapsed length with a taller bump stop

That should work. And is probably the way I will go for now. Shock relocation requires hoops welded to the frame and the cost and time involved with that plus the longer shocks. The next step beyond that is a true long travel rear with shocks coming up inside the bed to a cage like a race truck. Not going there.

I ordered extended travel front coil overs and custom built extended travel rears from @JDEMELLO and his crew. They have been awesome answering all my questions. I'm also going with a U Bolt flip kit with longer bump stops and extended brake lines all around. Rears I believe are 16 collapsed and a little over 26 extended.

Just wondering if those shocks are working out alright for you when you're flexing

The rears are the same as wheelers offers 15.9 collapsed 26.8 extended ...did you by chance ask if they are using longer eyelet shock mounts? And how long are the bump stops you are getting?
Edit: just to avoid confusion I'm talking about the non rr extended 2.0 vs

I didn't ask about the eyelet mounts but if @JDEMELLO reads this maybe he can chime in. I'll get the part number for the bump stops in a few.

I have a few pics of my truck flexing in my build thread. They definitely droop more than when I had the OME shocks in the rear. I still need to install my rear super bumps and u bolt flip. I doubt I will do extended shackles at this point but down the road I might do a shock relocate.
