Icon RXT leaf spring help???

A few more weeks in, hows the noise? Gonna be installing these this weekend, figure Ill be preemptive and hose them down with silicone while installing

 

As many in the group said, I used TriFlow. I took a 500 mile trip and no noises. This stuff seems a little thicker and still drys up pretty good. I lifted the truck from frame to flex the leafs, sprayed, let them dry, then wiped the excess off. So far so good.

 

I have option 3 installed. Am 3/4" higher on the passenger side. Anyone else getting a lean? An thinking of going option 2 on the passenger side.

You’re going to be changing the load carrying capacity. Do you have any lean spacer, or anything on the front already?

 

Sure you didnt accidentally install Option 2 on the drivers side? And you were parked on hard level ground when you measured? 3/4 seems quite excessive..

 

Are you measuring hub to fender
(Not ground to fender)?

 

-No Spacer installed up front.
- I measured from ground to fender. Was on hard level ground (garage floor). I just measured from Hub to fender, same result. This morning it actually looks like 7/8 difference.
- I double checked, Option 3 on both sides

Appears the shock I installed on the driver side is bad, am working to get that replaced.

 

For those who have reassembled these springs, how much leaf overlap is within tolerance? Some of the leaves are just slightly off and its a bitch to get them completely even.

I just got mine as close as I could...the leaf widths are all slightly different - won’t be absolutely perfect. Tap sides of leafs to align before tightening.

The main spring gets longer and shorter with the road conditions. It's bolted in the center and it's bolted in the frame mount. It needs a little room to move in . The rear shackle moves back and so the axle is in different places most of the time depending on the road surfaces and speed .

 

Yeah use a dead blow or rubber mallet to get them close after you get the center pin in, but remember they will naturally move once installed. So its not a big deal (even tho it drove my OCD nuts haha)

LOL Yes I too sometimes suffer from OCD A very long time ago I worked in a leaf spring shop and made them for real big trucks and road graders. I made the rolled eyes and the U bolts and installed them. That shop was older than dirt, and very primitive. That was a hard job, and it got even harder on a storm tide. Salt water would back up into the pits and be 4 feet deep . That was the worst. One of the tools guys here might find interesting was a guillotine that could cut spring steel 1/2 inch thick, by 4 inches wide all at once. There was a 8 foot dia bull wheel, and when you stepped on a bar the cutter engaged and came down and sheared the steel all at once. BOOM ! Every so often a chop would fly out like a bullet, but these would stop under yer flesh in the sternum. My Boss would get greasy old pliers and pull them out, and we just went back to work .

 

Thanks I thnk I got them close enough after a couple hours of tweaking on them. The second set went much faster and practically fell in line.

I think I might have to go to option one, I cant fix the rear end vibes to save my life and some how im getting close to 4 inches of lift on option two. im about to put these effing things for sale soon

 

I plan on dropping to Option 1 over the 4th of July weekend as well. Turns out I just dont carry enough weight at this point

 

like I can load my Kodiak in the box and my rear end drops not even half an inch.... that's a 600 pound quad. I feel like icons load charts are not very accurate.
