The pins that set in the axle bracket won't allow it to become askew. Besides, you try torqueing down those U-bolts with wheels/tires in the way - no fun at all.

I know the pin will get the packs to sit on the axle right, what I was wondering if it'd be possible for the packs to not be fully flush on that face of the axle, if that makes sense. Almost like there's a small shim in there. I may be fretting over nothing.

You're definitely right about torquing those bolts with the tires on. Especially with a flip kit. Walk away with tire dust on my cheeks everytime.

Not if you torque those bolts in increments in an X-pattern - doubt having the truck weight sitting on them would have any affect on the packs being seated on the axle platforms.

That's the pattern I use. In the past, I'll get them decently tight but then put the wheels back on and let things settle. I'm mostly concerned about the ubolts not seating/gripping perfectly and end up squeaking. Pretty sure I had that happen last time. Loosened that side up and redid it slower and it went away. Could definitely be anectdotal and/or placebo.

I went with option (3) and I regret it feels like I’m driving down hill. I currently have a roof rack, sliders, decked system load (tools, camping gear etc), steel bed rack (RotoPax,maxtrax). It rides really nice but hate the rack forward. Last weekend I had 600lbs of play sand in bags and it didn’t make a difference.
