    rentals do get abused. you've got to find a good landlord or management company that actually cares about the condition of the building and what not.

    hope it works out for you guys. having a top floor is high on my priority list too...along with space for my grill and a garage. I'm on Ali's side though, you gotta have your own laundry room! Of course around here the washer and dryer usually aren't supplied by the landlords so that's just another expense for you.
