It is my understanding they are all very expensive.

 

Rocky's was pretty cheap. He's only like $5K into his entire rig (that includes buying it) and he put front and rear axles on it plus a motor swap to the 3.4L.

Although after all his carnage in Moab it went up a bit.

 

you cant include that in his build. trail dammage never counts.

 

Mine could have been a lot cheaper had i chose smaller axles and tires with less lift. i could have just got a toy axle for the front kept my rear and just ran 37's we are talking the diffence between 13K and 4K

 

What kind of axle are you running?

 

HP dana60 front and a 14bolt rear. 3 link front and chev 63's for the rear. probably gonna run around 10" of lift to clear 42's

But if you went that route you would still be breaking shit like Rocky too though. He needs some tons now too! Wouldn't be too hard to swap them on now I wouldn't think.

Well 42's will give him approximately 21" (assuming they truly are 42's) and then 10" of lift for a total of 31" give or take. Then he'll air down and by the time those 42's get a little flex in them he'll likely drop a couple inches. So he may be right at 30" frame height when aired down.

 

i will trim the housing a hair but im not going to cut the ring gear if i was going to do that i would just run the 35spline sterling 60 i already have.

Basicaly something like this vvv might be a bit taller than 30" frame height but i can adjust as i go and make it more more of a droop suspentions as i go if need be.

hence the reason i did not go that route.

Went to Bloomington lake the fun way on some forest service roads and flexed the truck out so had to take a truck selfie, right?

 

So I did end up getting an internship with simplot, it's actually at the food production plant not at the corporate office like I wanted. but hours are plenty and pay is good. It's about the most inconvienet location imagineable, but it's a good company with tons of opportunity after graduation.

But Ben, you would have a field day here. I just got a tour of the boiler room, with the 3 1800 hp state of the art boilers that produce all of the steam for the plant. Shits pretty crazy and right over my head. I'll look around and ask if they have any engineering internships or positions that they know about if you want.

I'm also getting a kick out of the fact that when I started they gave me a white hard hat,some shirts and said to wear tan/khaki pants. That also happens to be the dress for managers and supervisors. So I'm walking around, or eating lunch and most people think I'm a manager or supervisor, and I don't have a fucking clue what's going on

It's a pretty good opprotunity all around. Its a good company, and There are a ton of potential full time positions available upon graduation. The other big reason I like simplot is that they are one of the local KPMG branch'a biggest audit clients. So the internal experience from simplot is a big leg up if I wanted to go work for kpmg
