I'm sure that's in zoning ordinances in many places around the country and chiefly to prevent someone from operating a "large" auto repair business in a residential neighborhood. I'm sure if you keep it reasonable so that your neighbors don't mind then it all flies under the radar.

I've been gone for 8 years now. I miss the shit out of it honestly, but I don't like where my home state is heading. I sometimes doubt that i'll ever move back. Too many boom, bust cycles. The job market sucks ass in far northern part of the state. The real estate is too expensive and the taxes are too high. Let's not forget about energy costs.

I have people ask me all the time when i'm going to move back. My move in 2012 was supposed to be temporary until the economy got better.

property, my land, taxes paid, income taxes paid, social security tax paid, state taxes paid, federal taxes paid, sales tax paid, used tires tax paid, chemical disposal tax paid, additional DMV fees for truck paid, alarm for the home fee paid, per tax fee paid, 1/2 cent tax for whatever paid. I’m going to work on my vehicles at home and I’m going to drink a beer while I’m at it.

I think the spirt of the law is written with the intent of people having say a frame machine, paint booth, engine machining equipment, lifts and a whole host of other big shop equipment at their house. It's really a huge nothing burger, keep it sensible in terms of repairs and you won't likely find any trouble

Yeah I agree. I was just poking fun at how ridiculous things are sometimes from both ends.

This is insane! How would/will they enforce this? Unless your neighbors are the ones calling to file a complaint I dont see this being a top priority for the city of Sac

I imagine that's exactly how they plan to enforce it...people calling it in on their neighbors. Stay friendly with them and probably won't run into any trouble

Basically what they're trying to do is eliminate those situations where people have vehicles parked outside on their property on jack stands for days on end. "Basic maintenance" will still be allowed, as the article states...brake pads, oil changes, tire rotations, etc are all still OK.

Funny how they say "only tools normally found within a residence will be permitted to be used"...how the F are they going to determine that lol

It is ridiculous though and it's a slippery slope to more strict BS rules being made going forward

The next step will probably be you have to pay for a permit before you can do driveway maintenance.

The good news is that they'll probably just force ya'll to drive electric cars in the next few years so you won't have to worry about it for long.
