If you weren't going to buy a Tacoma

It all depends on what you do with your truck. For me I traded in my camry because I got a job closer to home and was tired of putting my chainsaws and weekend fun gear in the trunk. But if I didn't have a tacoma as an option I would certainly go with the Colorado , it's the only other logical mid size option due to looks, performance and creature features. But obviously I choose tacoma because well......it's a tacoma.

I had a chance to buy a double cab hardbody Nissan but didn't act. Huge mistake.

Looks like my F150 arrived at the dealer yesterday! Hopefully, the wait will be over in a couple more days! :D

I like the Fords but that being said you had better hope you never have a engine issue they are all most impossible to work on the engines are crammed under the fire wall. A new clutch is a lot cheaper than a new truck.

haha Yeah, salesman called today to tell me it was there. He was off yesterday when it was delivered. He's doing up finance options now to see if Ford w/incentives is better than other options, and I guess someone will be calling me to discuss undercoating.

As for that, I'd like to keep this truck 10-15 years, only made it 9 with Tacoma. So I was assuming I'd want to do some sort of undercoating since the frame and other parts underneath are really the only steel on the truck. Did you have anything done on yours?

Hoping I can pick it up Friday and have it for the weekend! :D In other good news, the frame showed up at the dealer I originally scheduled through so now the dealer I'm buying from just needs to come get it. So it looks like I only need to keep insurance on the Tacoma until maybe middle of next week before they're done and turn in the plates for me.

No, I have never undercoated a frame because I'm super paranoid about moisture being trapped in between the undercoating and frame itself. I just spray the frame regularly, especially in the winter. My Tacoma frame looked awesome when I traded it in.

I have never undercoated a Ford frame. We have a 2006 our summer students still use for deliveries. The frame on that truck is still fine.

I've used fluid film. It works great but you have to reapply it every fall.

Hmmmmm.... Well I went for it anyway. I figured the undercarriage is really the only thing that can rust now, and with the road salt here I should get it. This dealer does their own spray in bed line, undercoating, and rust protection (in through the grommet holes left in the body) so I hope they know what they're doing.

My Tacoma frame had surface rust halfway through it's first winter, and now has a hole making Toyota replace it. So maybe I'm a little paranoid about NOT having it!

Oh I plan on it! :D I need some old vs new pics, and lots of other pics of it! Guys at work want pics and to ride in it. One of the managers I run a meeting for at the hospital in Lewiston, Idaho wants pics too. haha He's a Chevy guy and started asking me tow capacity and other questions while we're supposed to be talking about work. lol

The thing that really makes me happy is the frame FINALLY came in for the Tacoma and the dealer is working with me on it. They were willing to keep it on their lot with my tags on it until the work was done. NOW they'll just start the work order with my name and plates, then transfer plates, registration, and insurance to the new truck! I don't have to register new plates, or keep insurance on it until they're done before canceling it! (It would only be a few days, but still more shit I would've had to do.)

Lol! Our truck is exactly the same minus the Ecoboost badge and the FX4 sticker. Same grill, rims, and colour. Oh, and ours has the tubular running boards that match the rims and grill. Nice truck.

Not going to lie....that Ford looks nice....and I don't like Ford's. If only it would fit in my garage.

Awesome! Yeah this color is amazing! I hauled 2 loads of stuff for some friends of ours, and at all 3 stops I had to show/explain features to the people there. haha Going to have to factor in more time for jobs like that now.

I wasn't either. I was always one of those "Found on road dead!" guys. But after having enough of Toyota's BS (not standing behind issues I brought to their attention), and their lack of engineering (dumb shit like why is the Tacoma the ONLY truck I see without a damn light over the bed?!? or why does the 4WD in my RAV turn off when an emissions related check engine light comes on??) I knew I had to look elsewhere.

I looked at a 15 Sierra (really nice!), but saw 26.7 million recalls in 2014 alone, and damn near had a heart attack. Nope! Not one of those! NEXT! The 16 Nissan Titan XD with Cummins looked awesome, but no ETA and no price. Would I even be able to afford it when it finally came out? Would my truck last that long? Brand new design AND new engine? Ummmmm....what else do we have? Then I stopped by a Ford dealer on the way home for the hell of it. I knew the 15's were all aluminum, so no rust. Once I got in and saw the lights, the info on the dash (DTE, DTE towing, Avg MPG, Avg MPG towing, individual tires PSI, power distribution, tilt/yaw meters, tire angle indicator, trailing connected/disconnected, which door is ajar, and more), built-in brake controller, bed LEDs, mirror LEDs, locking lighted console, locking glove box, 2x110v outlets IN the cab, 4x12v outlets, heated seats, heated mirrors, more HP, more torque, more MPG.....!! I was sold! I just couldn't believe how many things were in there! The locker works in 2wd mode!! It seems like a simple thing, but I had to back my 4wd ECU with a DPDT relay to get that function on my Tacoma! Even though they make the prerunners with lockers!! WTF Toyota!

This thing, with offroad suspension, has such a smooth ride over bumpers and rough roads that, to my wife and I, it feels like we're riding on a cloud. I can roll into mashing the gas to the floor and light up the tires. I had to rev and drop the clutch in the Tacoma, or use 1st gear going around a corner. (That's something I'll have to be careful of. Don't want to burn through tires! :) )

I ordered it before I saw this video, but I think it helped me feel better about going a path I've never been down before (never owned a domestic, or a turbo'd vehicle in general). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tEqwXrqzH4
