No sorry, went straight to the KW, first mod back then was a short shifter...don't know how the new ones are, but the 05 had a shitty shifter stock.

I put a Mad Dad downpipe and a greddy EVOII exhaust on...with the turbo timer running the car when I came home at night my neighbors hated me

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I just built and priced a Rubicon, the power they list is not anything close to waaaay more :)

And I have read a ton of reviews saying their little v6 lacks the punch of our less powerful bigger 4.0

But in the end, 40k for a Jeep and can't pull my trailer with no bed.. No brainer.

I do like the Rubicon, the lockers are sweet as are the steel bumpers and winch ready etc. But I have been wheeling with jeep guys, THEY SUCK..

If you want to not get body damage or dirty don't bother with sliders, wheel with jeep guys.

I don't like doing things twice, but have some friends that have run their stuff and it seems okay. We'll probably skip the Teins and go straight for the good stuff when the time comes. I'm actually alright with the stock shifter, not to say that it couldn't be better but for now it does the job.

You're evidently "wheeling" with the wrong "jeep guys".

Yeah, I have been with some that were pretty awesome. I lived in KS and they got big groups of jeep guys out there at Tuttle creek. They would have a couple guys having fun and wheeling and a whole mess of others in a convoy of boredom.

My friend actually had an almost stock 4cyl late model Jeep. That guy was the most fun of all my wheeling friends.. And unlike most others his little 04 or 07 just kept going. Even if that little 4cyl Jeep couldn't keep up with my 1981 Toyota on the highway.. (its god awful slow, the jeep is slower)

Of course, the same could be said about many other guys who drive Toyota's too. Lots of stuff for offroad that really does not get used except for looks.

You guys may be right about the f150 or Tundra. I have owned just as many Fords as I have Toyotas and my only complaint was every Ford I ever had with a V6 had head and intake gasket problems.

Toyota may be better with the Tundra than the Tacoma.

I admit I did like the Tacoma when I got it but darn the dealers refuse to support the product. The rusting frames scare me and the last recall notice I got was about the leaf springs rusting and breaking on the Tacoma. But Toyota has no answers as to what they will do about it.

I'd honestly be in a 3rd Gen 4Runner. I actually like 4Runners more than Tacomas, and was looking for a solid 4x4 1999-2002 model 4Runner before I got my truck. The touchscreen and interior and color had me sold on the Tacoma since I couldn't find a nice 4Runner in 6 months of looking. Old toyotas are either too high mileage, fucked up by some hillbilly ingenuity, or came from a salty area and are rusted to shit, or they are not 4x4.

My next vehicle would be a current gen trail 4Runner on down the road. Until then, still love my truck:)

    Honestly.....

I have yet to catch my breath after eying this truck the past two weeks. It has to be the ugliest new model truck I have seen so far. It is hideous, the drooping belt-lines make it look like a "sad" truck and the front end looks like something the Chinese copied from Ford...except uglier.

    However....

After going to the Titan web page to see if this thing really does exist (it does)....I was actually impressed with the photo of the open chassis and Cummins Diesel set-up for this truck. It may be the best performing diesel truck for 2016.

But....you pay the price for that Cummins in not only $$$, but in having to look at that thing before climbing into the cab every day.

In my opinion, there is nothing else out there in the mid-size segment that I would consider other than a Tacoma. So if I were to replace my Tacoma it would be with an F-150 or F-250 PowerStroke

I'm fed up with Toyota too. I've owned 4 of them, and the most recent ended up getting traded a for Pathfinder which my wife a I fight to drive. Honestly, I *really* thought about trading the truck for another pathfinder after having the other one for a week. I just started looking at other trucks and the new Titan XD and F150 have caught my eye. Really like the torque of the cummins and the look of the XD, but I'm not sure I want to wait until the fall. And I have no idea if it'll even be in my price range with the comparable diesels being $50-$60,000 or more.

The F150 has a LOT of features the Tacoma doesn't, some of which I'd had to add while others were wishful thinking. Not to mention the lack of rust on body panels. (Tacoma's tailgate, rear bumper, and elocker rusted out so it's a sore spot with me.)

    F150 has:
    • heated mirrors
    • cargo light in the 3rd brake light
    • cargo lights in the bed
    • locking tailgate - with keyless entry, no key hole in the tailgate to corrode like my pop n lock did (which rendered it useless).
    • factory brake controller
    • factory remote start
    • bluetooth integration
    • lighted center console bin
    • lighted glove box
    • locking glove box
    • locking center console
    • 4 D-rings in the bed
    • 120v outlet IN the cab (two of them)
    • USB and AUX in jacks
    • backup camera (kind of nice now that I have a trailer)
    • 4 wheel disc brakes! The drums suck, and I don't have as much stopping power as I'd like with the tacoma. Especially when towing.
    • A locker that works in 2WD mode!! And 4 high as well as 4 low.
    • Same or better MPG with 129 HP more (3.5L Ecoboost), and over 100 more ftlbs of torque
    • Sun roof option available
    • Trailer 7 and 4 pin plugs in the bumper, not under where they get torn off after the first week

I'm sure most of you have seen the Cheap/free mod thread. After doing so many of them to make this meet my needs I'm tired of making up for the lack of engineering from the manufacturer. Having so many of the options I want/need ready to go from the factory is a BIG incentive for me to switch.

Look up 2015 F150 insurance rates. It's lighter all right.

I feel the same way about 2016 Tacoma, one ugly .....
With Minivan engine in it, I would not be able to even get satifaction from ownign ugly car.
I think Pearl White Titan with few tweaks its goign to look bad ass.
Than again with that Cummins engine its goign to be others seeing that front in the mirror when its closing on them.
550 ft-lb of Torque can not be beat. That thing will be able to tow anything regular person will toss against it. Plus its Nissan. Their quality is comparable to Toyota. Price wise I am sure its going to be expensive but if Toyota does not replace my rusting frame I may use that great resale value :D
One thing I love about Nissans is any of them I had it held pretty good against rust.
But As somebody else wrote, I think F150 especially with Aluminum body is great choice too. I had Fords maintained them myself and they lasted. I only had problems when I went to dealer. Than again I had problems when I went to Toyota dealer too.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but my insurance rates are going up $20/month from a 2009 Tacoma to 2015 F150. It's not that much more expensive.

This one is easy for me . . .

If they do it right [wait and see] but the new Colorado or Canyon with the Duramax diesel.

If not, then I'll wait until someone does do it right. In love with "clean" and "unclattered" turbo diesel through Touareg, Cayenne, and now Audi. Clean, refined, turbo-diesel is the bee's-knees for these heavier SUVs/Pickups.

Plus, with a performance tune on the Cayenne, I was in the neighborhood of 300HP/500lb.ft., 0-60 in <6, and "averaged" 28mpg, >32mpg H/W. Since I am not driving enough miles to warrant keeping it, I sold it and bought the wife the Audi Q5 TDI and it is "averaging" >30mpg.

So, naturally, the price of gas dropped over a buck . . .
