Well first response is an older model V8 Tundra, M/T of course.

However, if I was abandoning the idea of a Toyota all together, I'd say an old Isuzu Trooper or a 1972-1975 CJ-5.

I also got a soft spot for the late 1980s S10 blazer. Was my first car with 200k miles and was a beast. Although it was hard to work on with the 4x4 and V6 because it was such a small body. Everything was squeezed in there.

Since I live in the frozen tundra for what feels like half the year, I was seriously looking at a Subaru WRX. I ruled out Any rear wheel drive. Even with good winter tires and a rear differential they are no
fun on the highways. I was thinking about a wrangler, but their quality control issues turned me off and they have tend to have a real rust issue up here after five or so years.

Not to mention that the Tundra TRD doesn't even have a locking differential.

Best parking spot for a condo, ever!! One never has to worry about the neighbours car dinging your truck.

If Ford decides to get back into the fight with Ranger it will be a serious look for me if they offer the 2.3 with manual, 4x4 and long bed.. if the cabin is alot bigger then it's also game over... lol .
But that won't happen till im guessin 2019 if they do join the party.

I read a 2018/19 release, and its confirmed they are bringing it back, agreed if it dosent look like a car, has better mpg, similar feature content and more room I'm in too.

Heard an interview couple years back with Fords manager for North Merica and he said " with f150 doing so well and the money we've put into RD to put it is where it is today- why would we want to take away that?" When he was asked if he they are bringing the new ranger over here.

I thought dam... lol good point. Then I started looking for a Taco.

I'd wait until the Ranger came out, but even then I probably would have gone with a tacoma. On another note, and one I'll likely get roasted for: prius as commuter, taco as work horse and adventuremobile = win

Now that the 2017 F-150 3.5L is going to have dual fuel injection (direct and port) , I would seriously consider one. My last ford I had was several trucks ago , a 1991 . I returned it under the lemon law. If I could get a Euro model ranger that gets the 43.5 mpg ?

    https://www.netcarshow.com/ford/2016-ranger/

All new Ford Ranger variants achieve significantly improved fuel efficiency, with the 160 PS model offering exceptional figures of 6.5 l/100 km (43.5 mpg) and 171 g/km CO2 emissions for reduced running costs - down from 7.8 l/100 km (36.2 mpg) and 206 g/km CO2 in the outgoing model.

Then again It really ticks me off how the nonUSA models of most vehicles get so many more mpg than we can buy !

    Nobody wants a dicless truck.

If the Taco is off the table, and it has to be a truck, then F150.

If it doesn't have to be truck, then 4runner.

    Same as everybody else...
Full size I'd pick either the Tundra or F150.
Midsize I would go with the Frontier over GM, I'm really interested to see what Ford rolls out with the new Ranger.Should be interesting.

Before I bought my 1st gen, I was really wanting a new Canyon or Colorado :crapstorm:The price tag threw me off. It was too close to a new Sierra. I was also really looking forward to the Ram Rebel coming out also. If the Lord placed me in a city permanently I would want a new stage 3 Roush Mustang. Possibly a 4 Runner....
