I'm getting 16mpg is this normal?

When I fill up its from empty to full (before the reserve tank kicks in, so 17gal) it's been in the high 90's all summer so the A/C has been on for 15-20 minutes of driving in town.
I have about 215# of weight added (rear bumper, sub box, tool bag) plus some miscellaneous things in the truck so let's chalk that up to 240#... I weigh 120 so 360#

 

Also I recently changed my spark plugs out, I thought maybe I undertorqued them (didn't have a torque wrench at the time) and they're all in spec. I run 88 octane fuel and live 5,000 ft above sea level

 

2012 4.0 4x4? If so yep 16 is about right, that's what I get in mine. My Silverado gets better milage then my tacoma, these trucks are not known for good mpg.

 

Sounds right to me. I get 15-17 in summer. Maybe 18+ on a long highway trip.
Wait til the winter fuel, cold weather comes. I get 13-15 with no where near the weight you have.

Damn, I kept reading about people getting 18-19mph but it must be 2wd reg cab short beds, ah well it's a truck

 

Better MPG is possible, but you have to sacrifice a little.
I get about 20 mpg on my 99 4-banger (older, uglier, smaller and LIGHTER).
Also, I drive like an old man ( which I am ).

BTW, hows the dirt section of road from Elko to Jarbidge right now? Lotta washboard?
We are going there next week, for no particular reason, other than to get away for a few days.

 

I have a 2015 and it get's an average of 16.5. Just the way it is my friend.

It did get closer to 17 or 18 when I bought, but the lift/wheels ect. made sure that didn't last.

 

I get a pretty steady 19.5 city driving with AC on at 100F. Supercharged V6 auto here. But I try to drive pretty conservative. I get passed quite often getting up to speed. Nothing to prove here and definitely not in a rush to get to work LOL

 

Hmm.... It shouldn't be TOO bad, it's pretty well traveled but I haven't been on that road this year. If the washboard gets too bad just go 45 and let the shocks do the work
