Flame me for it, but I will go down to the stealership, and buy one. I will pay the early adoption premium. I will deal with the crap that comes up with a new model. I will also deal with the people on here that will tell me i wasted my money, that there is no good reason to buy it.

    I get it.

I also will be glad to rub it in the faces, not really, of all the people that are saying it is ugly, stupid, girl truck, when I start seeing the same people posting new pics of there "i just had to have it" 2016 tacoma.

Grill looks fine, bumper, fine. Suspension, fine. body, fine. Interior, great. MPGs, who knows. Torque, IT WILL BE FINE (flame shield activated). Transmissions, fine.

If the HVAC crickets, body squeaks, leaf chatter, driveline vibs, and cabin noise are even 50% reduced or gone completely gone... I feel it is worth it. I loved my 06, I still want my 09 back, but the 08 Tundy is expensive on gas, and only has interior room as an advantage. I do not need a truck that can haul 9400#, i need a good commuter truck that can handle a 700 Grizzly in the bed, and will take me to a camp/ hunting site, or will once in a blue moon haul a trailer with 2 Grizzlies on it. Plus you can get one is Orange, I like orange. DCLB looks like the ticket this time around. I came from DCSBs

Im just giving my .02, i appreciate your time. I know more of you are stoked about the truck. I feel the internet has a sliding scale in terms of group dynamics. Once the war party got settled that the truck was ugly, the rest joined the ranks.

by December i bet 10% of this site will be showing off their new 2016 Tacoma.

More power to you if you like it. I have come around a bit on the styling. Looks good when configured properly and when grill is not chrome.

Being honest, the chrome is the worst part on any of the trucks we have photos of.

Good for you. Go get one!
If they would work for me, I would be right behind you. These fanboys of the old generation trucks are just jealous. Who would you not want a modern, fuel efficient engine, better ride, and a more truck like appearance? All the full size trucks have adopted the big front grills. Tacoma will now be part of the main stream.

Good deal, get what you want. I personally am on the fence about driveline components. So I bought a '15 OR.

Still trying to decide myself on 2015 or 2016. If I wait too long the choices on 2015 will be limited. Squeaks and noises bother me and my 2002 is still tight and noise free with 175K but the time is right for a new one.

I am getting one too Murphy! I have wanted a Tacoma since the first gen. Had to buy my time with a Mazda 3 until I could afford one. That time has come and I can't frickin' wait. I can't speak on the first year release of the second gen but it seems that a lot of the minor issues that plagued it from inception are still present in the 15's. It's Toyota. It will be a great vehicle regardless. That's what the warranty is for.

Personally I'd stick with the trusty and reliable 4.0L and Ab750 trans that have been around since 2002. Dunno if 1-2 real world mpg gain is enough for me. I'm probably gonna be one of the uncool kids and get a lame leftover 2nd gen because sunroofs are worthless.

Count me in too I've been waiting a few years for Toyota to update the Tacoma since a Tundra is no longer an option due to it's size. I test drove a Tacoma in 2013... I liked the exterior styling (interior not so much but ok) the size was just right, and I liked the engine. What I didn't like so well was the (manual's) 16/19 mpg, too low 6th gear, more road noise and a much choppier ride compared to my 04 Tundra. It appears these issues have been improved along with a much nicer looking interior. Exterior styling may be a step backwards but it's not horrible. Unlike some here I'm not concerned in the least with the new 3.5 engine's power since it makes a lot more than my Tundra which is a heavier truck.

I'm with you, but I don't plan on playing to premium to get one. If you search on apps like True Car or the USAA Car Buying Service (basically truecar), you will generally always find dealers who are will to knock around $1500 off the price of any high demand new car. You might have to travel a few hours, but it does happen

You said it and we're glad to hear it. The more TW members that step up will give a better sampling of reviews. If it's all good then I may join you, but in the meantime i traded my 12 on a 15........just in case.

But those are full size trucks and they all did a good job. Toyota has done a terrible job on this new front end. It is the absolute worst part of the truck as far as looks go.

I can tolerate the new grill now, but yeah, I think Toyota dropped the ball. It looks like a Franken-truck. Bed and front look new and extra masculine, cab looks old and humble. Design does not flow front to back. Oh well, just gotta live with it.

Pretty much. Tundra did the same thing. Nothing new, just take the same body panels and re-stamp. Exterior wise, that's what the Tacoma is; a re-stamp of all body panels. Hope they look better on the lot...

    Congrats on your 2016! :burnrubber:

    Grill reminds of the 4runner,

Nice thing is it has projection headlight housings.
I know looks grow on you. If I hadn't scored a deal on my 2015, I might be having a 2016.
I really hope the 2016 2.7L with the new AT fills the bill where the old AT and 2.7 were left wanting something more
as national speed limits exceeded 55MPH.
