For some reason I can't find a good way to fix this mess but I'm sure you guys will know a quick solution.
I bought this 94 Grand Cherokee about a year ago for a project car, and it's in pretty good shape except the body which has seen better days.
There are a few areas that were previously Bondo'd and it's starting to crack so I am trying to make it look a little better. One of the areas is all along the driver's door, and it appears there is a good amount of body filler. The main problem however, is that the little nubs that hold on the door molding clips were removed. On this jeep, there are little metal studs that are attached to the door that hold on the plastic body clips, the body shop that did the work before ground them off so now there is nothing there to hold on the clips on. They drilled holes right through the door and used rivets, so now I'm left with these holes drilled in the door.

I am looking for a good way to attach these plastic clips that isn't super ghetto. I would prefer to not use any kind of glue, and definitely don't want to drill more holes and use rivets.

Ideally I would just have my buddy weld on some nail heads and use those as the new studs, but since there is so much Bondo on the door the welding will not stick. I also thought about just screwing them to the door, but again I would prefer not to have to put holes. Here are the pictures of what I'm talking about:

Oh, and her bonus points, any good ways I can cover up those previous holes? I don't care how any of this looks because it is all hidden under the door cladding.

You have access from the inside if you remove the interior door panel? Use nuts and bolts if they don't interfere with the power window mechanism?

I do, that was my original plan but I would have to drill even bigger holes in the door.

Find another door at a junkyard and paint to match?
