WTF is up with those prices???
With $50 at a scrap yard, a few tools and a welder I can build a really good one. Missing welder, bender, pipe cutter.

Ikr, fabricators sometimes price themselves out of business.

    $24 on D-Rings
    $30ish on the two straps.
Keeps they $730 spare well in place and is removable in about 5mins. Takes longer to unlock the chain and make sure it doesn’t scratch the wheel.

My only problem with mounting it on the bed is it takes up most of the bed
(5ft bed and 33” tires) What if you have to load things into the bed? Then get a flat with the bed loaded? Just sounds like a pain.

This thread is making me want a bumper with a swing-out.

After trying every possible location in the bed for a tire; laying down, angled, straight up against back quarter, etc. I finally decided on straight up against the back wall further to the passenger side.
For me this is the best spot because:
1)I still have 95% rear visibility through the rear view mirror
2)the weight of the wheel on the passenger side offsets the weight of the gas tank on the other
    3) i still have full length space to the left of the tire for longer item.wood,metal,etc.
4)there is no strung weight anywhere. The rear mount is basically just holding the tire from rolling. Otherwise it is cornered into the passenger side and rear bed rail.

I also incorporated a hi-lift which takes up ZERO bed space!

Pretty much what I was going for! however I never thought about mounting it closer to the passenger side to offset the weight. Thats a solid idea. I think I would only mount it for trail days and call AAA if I get a flat lol.

The frame holding the wheels and high-lift, did you custom build that?

Yes I fabbed the tan connecting bar you see in the pictures. It ties into the black side rails for added reinforcement.

    Which brand is that?

Also, do you feel the weight difference off-road with the bumper and cap?
