Like many others in this forum, I (@FreshMexicanTaco ) created a solution to a problem that bugged me since the day I bought my truck. It was a simple problem but these days, we all have our phones with us and can rarely live without them, unfortunately our trucks don't really have a good spot for mounting things like these. Somehow every mount I tried blocked my view too much or was simply too awkward or intrusive some other way.
This is what I came up with and I loved it so much I decided to share it.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/a-truly-universal-mount.491843/
Then I saw that others also liked it an so here we are.IMG_6439.jpgIMG_6435.jpg
I have this pretty much ready for production but in order to get this thing going I'm going to need to first do a few Trial runs with a few members.
I will be giving away 5 of these mounts, including the 1" base RAM ball.
Since this mount requires some drilling, not everyone will be willing to put on themselves. These first units will help me develop installation instructions and to get some good pictures of a production unit (mine is just a bit different, production unit improved upon this design).
Bad news is, in order to have better control over these first units, I need people to be local.
I need 5 San Diego volunteers to have this installed on their trucks by me personally.
If you want to be one message me directly to go over the details.
Once I have ironed out those details I will put the kits together with the proper installation manual and ship them out to more members.

    UPDATE 8/29/17
    @FreshMexicanTaco
was suspended because I can't have two accounts, I will try and work something out with the forum guys so that I can get that one back, they were supposed to take this one not that one. Just be aware, and if you tried to contact me there, thats why I haven't responded.
I now have the 5 volunteers that I needed. Thank you guys for that.
I forgot this weekend was a long weekend, some of you have plans and I understand so if you do you won't lose you place. we will do the install after.
I might try to do some before the weekend. If so I will let you know.

No it doesn't. See the original post for a better picture/explanation.

In these picture it does create a little bit but the ram arm is adjustable, plus that's a 10 inch iPad right there!
A normal phone is completely out of te way even in that position

nice! I saw the original post on this and was definitely intrigued! The Hondo mount that takes over the air vent is really cool, but its so damned hot here in Texas, losing a middle air vent's ability to be aimed is just not an option for me.

Thanks for looking out Chad! Sub'd AF!

Can I be the guy to test the instructions? You need one of those right??? :fingerscrossed:

Either way I’m probably in for one when they are available to buy. You can never have too many mounts. I’m always changing stuff around so itd be nice to have lots of options.

need to learn more about this stuff
If you come to Los Angeles I'll be a tester for you. I have the mount that goes in the CD player right now. Hate that it blocks my screen a bit when using back up cam.

The picture looks like there is multiple holes across the top, does that mean there will be multiple places to mount a phone?
