YES! you can move the RAM ball mount to any position you like or even have multiple mounts. or use them to mount anything else.

I love the idea of having multiple devices on one mount!

I'm definitely in for one when ready! On the right coast so a little far for a tester!

Does the dash trim have to be removed for the install?
Does the mounting plate have to be removed each time you add a mount?

    Thanks

I had a Ram mount for my iPad on my last truck. To answer if they block your view it all depends on how you position it. Seeing the pictures of the mount the OP designed I don't see any issues based on my previous experience. At worst you can buy different Ram "arms" to help with dialing in your position to where it works perfectly.

One of my criteria in buying a Tacoma was navigation so I didn't have to bastardize my new truck to mount my iPad for gps duty again. Fact is an iPad with a Garmin GLO gps reciever is one of the best gps solutions there is PERIOD. You choose the gps app of your choice and you have an awesome huge screen. If I had known the Hondo mount were available or this one I might have went that route instead. I used to travel from jobsite to jobsite daily and even multi trips daily. iPad on mount and open spreadsheet and input time sheets as I arrive and leave. The company I was contacting for used my time sheets because I was the most accurate when doing billing. Close spreadsheet, hit gps app and off to the next job. The gps app I used was awesome in that it lowered the music I streamed to my radio when giving directions. Wish the entune unit would do this instead of the music being cranked and drowning out the directions.

My only question is stability with a 9.7" iPad. I previously used the Ram floor mount and then added a separate mount to the rear view mirror stalk and a double ball mount to the Ram iPad mount. Without the second support / mount point it shook a fair bit due to the weight. I am interested I hearing feedback on the mounting of the larger iPad in regards to the stability. If it is as good as it looks this new product is a winner and a very clean solution. I would love to be a tester for this product in harsh Canadian winters.

ONLY For the initial install will you need to remove the trim. HOWEVER, if you've never removed this part before, you will be surprised just how easy that is. basically you just pull it out.

I personally hate the way ENTUNE does navigation. I stay as far away from it as I can especially now that I have this mount.
The iPad in my experience can be held very steady if you use a short arm, I'm using the 9.7 iPad Pro so it is on the lighter side of the scale. (for iPads)
The heavier your device is the more it will shake, the longer the arm is, the more it will shake. All phones and phablets should be pretty still at all times. Even smaller lighter tablets will be fine, Android tablets are usually lighter than Apple.
I find that a medium sized tablet is what works best, I don't have an iPad mini but I have a feeling that it would be a great fit.
