Oh for sure, That .25"x 1"x 4' piece would have cost me $2.94 + $0.75 cut fee(no cut fee if they have a drop available) +$0.20 tax = $3.89 after tax at my local supplier. ACE is a ripoff for items like that, but hey its convenient.

Yes, I fell victim to thinking with my balls and not my wallet on a what would've been a boring Sunday morning.

Installed mine this afternoonThanks to @Lostsheep for pulling through for everyone. We all appreciate you making this come to fruition even with all the demands on your time.

All machines parts will have tool marks on them unless they’re post processed with a polisher of some sort.

Agreed, I was just a bit taken aback by the white streak marks along the length of the piece. I was thinking of maybe taking a sharpie to it, but then I'm afraid that the sharpie color might not match the anodizing. I'll just have to live with it....

so... just FYI... on a 70* day... parked nose into the sun... this bitch gets HOT. I'd be careful after letting the truck sit in the sun and putting any pressure as it might be hot enough to melt, or at least deform the thin dash plastic. all the more reason I'm going to create a thin bar for the inside that mirrors the mount.

Do you think putting a piece of felt on the underside of the mount would help? Or something else that might mitigate some of the heat transfer to the plastic part of the dash?

i was thinking of a layer of heat resistant tape. that could also be applied to flatten it out since mine bows just a bit at both ends.

possibly... I may be over thinking it... the dash may be able to withstand it... but I burnt my fingertip touching it... and I'd hate to have to replace the bezel because I pushed my phone into it's mount and it warped or deformed the bezel. I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow AM from Denver through Las Vegas and back through Phoenix then home... so we'll see how it handles even "winter" heat from the south west.

i ended up using this stuff, a heat resistant bandage for fixing mufflers. 2 layers along the bottom, and it's not adhesive so not messy or any of that. and i added a couple extra layers in the middle to build it up and flatten out how it sits at the ends. came out perfect.

Is this no longer available? I see a lot of people asking with no answers.
