Pro tip #2 really helped me out during my install today. I also like your magnetic attachments and I may get them for myself. Thanks for sharing.

The bolts that come with the kit seem really short. Is everyone installing using those or picking up other ones?

And anyone have a pointer to the install video? I looked back through the threads but didn't find it.

Unless they changed them (I’m in the initial purchase group), they work fine. Some have moved them more outboard to create more of an arc, but I didn’t find that necessary. I did wish that I had installed it shifted more to the passenger side to allow for a notch on the driver’s side wher I could run a power lead internally in the dash. That is a minor thing in the scheme of things.

As for install, it is pretty straight forward. Take off radio bezel (it pulls straight off). Put new mount over top of bezel in the obvious gap. Hold it as close to front as possible and mark the holes you intend to drill with a marker, pencil, punch, centering bit, etc. Remove assembly and drill those holes. You may want to oversize slightly to allow for some adjustment before tightening. Bolt that puppy up, snap back on and enjoy a cold beer as you marvel at what you have just accomplished!

Thanks! That helps. I was thinking about a USB port somewhere there to avoid dangling wires.

Yea, they have those port extenders, etc that would have worked great. or even just the phone's cord itself. Pay attention to the ribs in the plastic bezel as you may have to select a different hole for the bolt or move slightly more to clear. You also don't want to take up one you plan to use for a mount (this is the reason they don't go all the way in - so you can still use that spot, just with an added nut/washers.

I also had an idea, but haven't found where I placed the part I need - Since the thread is a common 1/4-20 it also matches up with lots of things. One of those is device/appliance leveling feet. I'm pretty sure I have some black plastic ones that probably have a wide enough diameter to allow use of suction cup mounts. In case you have one of those oddities that doesn't work with the RAM standards or has a unique attachment (I've got a few of these things that travel with me occasionally. Some I have adapted (read as 'ground off the rest of the mount') to accept the metal plate on the back so the magnetic works just fine. With the magnetics, the larger rectangle plates will hold most things, the round not so much. Just double up to get more pull.

I am including a ram ball mount. Shoot me a PM and we’ll set something up.
