These guys are close to releasing a similar mount maybe later this month. Unknown price point and it’s a bit different looks-wise but it seems like it’ll fit our trucks well, and you can run power to it. I may be in depending on price point but we’ll see! More pics on their IG of it in action, I’ll try and attach em.

Sorry, but no. That is kinda fugly (my personal take) even for a truck. The OP's idea was killer and hidden.

In the end, the Hondo mount does all that I need.

I did this adding a piece of T rail to the top the interior piece. Did drill three small holes and back the trim with three medal strips in side the trim piece. If you are worried about the weight on the piece the Hondo mount is hanging on the same assembly.

Check my post above. My ram ball drilled into the dash trim is solid as a rock.

Guess this isn't thread jacking since the OP isn't responding anymore... but how do you get the trim piece off to back the mount? This is pretty simple and clean looking. What size I-pad are you going to hang there? I was thinking that for extra support, some type of soft rubber or hard foam piece could be attached to the back of the I-pad with the magnet things and rest against the front part of the dash to add stability and prevent the thing from shaking much.

Just pull gently. The whole piece with both vents comes off. No fasteners.

There's a couple videos out there for the Hondo mount and HAI cable.

I run either that Garmin GPS or a normal size iPad. If doing lots of off-road driving, I’ll put a little rubber “bumper” between the ram arm and the dash. Overall doesn’t shake much at all.

Just pull trim straight out towards you with your bare hands. It will pop off.

    Nope: https://youtu.be/47sf5G8ZsnI?t=23s

I might have a go at making something similar to what OP had going if I can get around to pulling that panel out and taking some measurements.

I'm looking at T tracks on Amazon, but to get it flush like OP had it will take quite a bit of work. I don't have the knowledge/tools, but it looks like if you cut the top center out of the radio surround, you could mount something to the 2 top bolts holding the radio in place.

Looking closer at his pictures, he did something different as his mount goes all the way to the curved part of the radio surround.
:notsure: I'm not sure if/how he maintained the plastic retaining clips on the top portion of the radio surround.
