Here's the scoop... I am looking at buying a boat, a 21' Contender (http://contenderoffshore.com/thefleet.php?bid=4) and I am torn as to what to do with my truck, sell it and buy a cheap fullsize truck, or mod it to handle additional towing weight? My truck is a 2006 regular cab 4x4 and the trailer that this boat will be on is a tandem axle with surge brakes. The modifications to my truck would include OME full suspension, to stiffen the suspension, larger tires, 33", just to make it look right with the lift kit/stiffer suspension, 4.88 gears with rear locker, and obviously a trailer hitch.

The full weight of the boat/trailer ready to fish will be about 4,000-4,500lbs which i realize is 500-1,000lbs above tow rating and I will be towing the boat no more than 10 miles on back roads to the ramp. What do you all think?
