Hey everyone, glad to be all part of this group.
I’m a first time Tacoma owner.
I’ve owned other trucks, hunt/fish, some trails but nothing extreme.

I want to get some bigger rubber in the next 6-9 mos, maybe 31s, 32s.
I’m thinking i want/need a suspension lift, gear job and tune.

Question is, in what order do you all recommend?

    Thanks!

    1. Be surprised when you get to the top of a trail and see stock Rav4's there, then realize you don't need to waste money making truck look more capable.
    2. Then pay off the loan.
    3. Then save for retirement so you can be that old guy who buys a Platinum/Limited/Denali when you turn 58 and wear nothing but jean shorts and OU t shirts.

If youre not going past 31/32. You don't need a lift or gears, you can sure! Your truck! Tune is good all the way around, hit up the KDMax guys sooner than later!

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-kdmax-performance-tune-by-paparee-and-twtaco.713699/

Find the person in your area and contact them! Don't wait 6-9 months!

Wait.... no one ever explained that part about the jean shorts! I would of listened then!

You can fit 32's on stock wheels and suspension without problems. You can fit some 33's on stock or aftermarket wheels and stock suspension with only minor plastic trimming without problems.

Welcome to TW! The order is up to you OP.

Surprised to see folks say no lift. Some of them having very expensive lifts themselves. With a decent lift and 32" tires. You will be more capable than a stock truck.

    Welcome to TW!

My suggestion would be to drive/off-road the truck the way you normally do for a while and make your list based on deficiencies which actually effect you. I also came to a Taco after a lot of off-roading and four-wheeling in other types of off-road vehicles and 4wd’s. Personally I’ve been very impressed with how capable these trucks are in stock form.

    This.
You need absolutely nothing. If you just want it, pick any order it does not matter.

I'd just swap the tires out for some better ones (BFG KO2's/wildpeakes at3w/trailgrapplers) in 265/75/16 sizing before lifting the truck because it might just be what you're after, based on your description.

A nice mildly price build with some skinny 33s Kendas on 17” wheels, Billy’s, UCAs, Marlin gussets, streamline front bumper with a viper cut, access cab, tuned, and regeared to 4.88s with a front and rear air lockers, cowl snorkel, aluminum skids, hammer hangers, exhaust reroute, sliders, and a softopper! I’d be in heaven!

Instead I’ve done dumb things! Don’t do dumb things!

If the lifted look doesn’t fancy you leave the suspension stock, buy a 31” set of shoes that you prefer, and spend 2-300 bucks to let someone knowledgeable flash a tune for you.

Hammer hangers and gears aren’t bad choices, great bang for the buck and return on investment with our trucks IMO but ……..

Ignorance is bliss as they say!

Really? I have a 2.5" lift with 31s (265/75/16) and I rub the driver's side when turned left. -12 offset on my wheels.

I had 32's on mine for a bit before 33's with no rubbing. The 33's are 255/85/16 on SCS wheels and needed some plastic trimming front and back and a caster adjustment to keep them from rubbing.
