So I have wondered about these. I am a real lover of just tossing the skillet in a pile of coals to pre-warm it for the eggs, bacon and such...

Can you use coals and wood with these thingies or they are just for use the propane burners?

it is designed for coals/wood, has legs to elevate them just high enough for that. You can detach them and put it ontop of a burner like i did

What's the reasoning to getting rid of the bedslide?

I want one, but then I feel there's wasted space between the sides of the bedslide and the wheel wells

Agreed. If I were to ever get one I’d put a cutout on top to fill all the gaps that I could.

without the canopy i really didnt see the need to have it, its more useful when you dont have access to the sides.

the sides of my bedslide housed my house battery so i found ways to utilize the wasted space

had a good memorial weekend, went to the property to clean up the beach/ check on the animals and enjoy some rod time. Went up the road to my friends place for a few days as they hosted a memorial day get together and their kids first birthday

picked up a new trek remedy 9.7 yesterday

did pretty well after the first trail run and now debating how i will mount it. bike has enough space to sit upright without the front wheel in the bed so a boost spaced fork thru mount is an option or a standup rack mount is another idea.

one option takes up bed space while the other adds height to the truck and eliminates the ability to fit into downtown parking structures......decisions

    Couple of options!

Option 1 (since you have a swingout)

    Option 2

i use to have that exact same hitch mount, sold it when i sold my bikes and now i have regrets....

what are the ones on the prinsu, been thinking of just picking up the rocky mount tomahawks since its cheap and i can transfer it between cars when i need to carry the bike.

thule sidearms! I've gone through a bunch of bike racks, but these seem to be the sturdiest. (until you go 1up racks which I don't want to pay for lol)

i like how low profile they are, guy at work has a van with a 1up rear hitch mount that takes 4 bikes. i guess that must have ran him a pretty dollar

yeah but they are very secure and very lightweight. I'm rebuilding my Thule T2 with aluminum base bars to try and lighten it up

luckily the thule "clamps" are large enough to fit a lot of options. I go from my aero bars on my forester to my prinsu without and issues
