Not all of us have the means to just go out and buy a new pickup. We have to make due with what we have...Yes sure I would love to have an DC, but that is not happening. The extra expense with a child on the way is unrealistic at this point. The safety standards are so much higher in vehicles at this point than when I was a kid in the 70’s, I will take my chances. If anyone on here would like to buy or trade me their DC for my access cab, please shoot me a message on the place to meet. Until then, don’t critique individuals for doing what they have to do. If you don’t like it, move in to the next post. Ridiculous!!

What’s the verdict with the car seat in the middle of your access cab? I’m in the same boat, just got the truck last year and can’t afford to get a new 1 yet. What model is your car seat?

I wouldn't install it in the middle.

It’s tight but it works if you need to. We rarely ever use my truck but have a few times definitely fits but makes it rough for the passenger. Once you get forward facing it gets a little better.

I can't let the wife know
On long road trips the only person that suffers is the front passanger. Wife is 5'6 and child seat fits in the back . Her knees don't touch the glove box ( close to it). I even offered to remove the glove box so she can get a few more inches of space. I am not able to buy a new truck but access cabs are doable with one car seat.

A child can be severely injured in any vehicle colision, the best place for them to be is home. Imo it is better to have them in a properly installed baby seat in the back of an AC than in the back of a 2 doors Yaris, or in a 4 door 2000 berline with 2 air bags instead of 4 or 6 and even more in today's car/truck. More space in the back doesn't always mean safer. More comfortable for sure, but not safer. A lot of factors has to be taken in consideration.

I'll consider changing my truck when a baby will come in my life because of course the AC is not the best, but I wouln't change it for less secure because budget...
